By Sneha

Asthma
Asthma is a respiratory disease that is caused by inflammation in the wind pipe characterized by recurring asthma symptoms. Wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and shortness of breath are the major asthma symptoms. Asthma can be triggered due to some allergic reactions. Allergic reactions are caused mainly due to pet hair, dust, pollen, chemicals in air or food etc. Sometimes it is also caused due to respiratory infections, stress or exercise.

Let us take a look at some weird asthma cures as propagated and followed by some people across the globe.

Infesting Hookworm- Many people claim that infesting yourself with hookworms can prove as an ideal asthma cure. But this process needs a lot of courage. A bare foot walk in the urinals might help in developing hookworms inside your body.

As per a scientific researches conducted by Sarah Scrivener from the University of Nottingham and other colleagues the development of hook worms, an intestinal parasite inside the body suppresses the body's inflammatory response to allergies especially the one from dust mites. But it does not stand out for everyone; some people can develop both.

Swallowing Raw Fish- Many people in the Eastern part of the world believe that swallowing of a small sized raw fish can be an effective asthma cure. Though there is no firm base for such belief people function on sheer faith.

According to this asthma remedy they must swallow the fish on Wednesday. They then go on a 45 day diet and abstain from deep fried food.

Salty and Bitter Treatment- Medical science has proved that breathing salt particles is one of the most effective asthma cures. People go to salt caves and breathe salt particles to relieve their asthmatic problems. The salt helps in dissolving the gunge in lungs and makes the tubes more flexible. This asthma remedy also helps in healing coughing and wheezing.

Eating bitter foods might resolve your asthmatic problems to a great extent. The smooth muscles in our lungs respond to bitterness just like our taste buds. The receptors that react to bitterness in the lungs expand the airways thus proving as an excellent asthma remedy.

An asthma remedy can be both weird and real at times. If any other weird asthma remedy is known to you, do share with us.
