Healthy Diet To Prevent Breast Cancer

A recent research states that the incidence of breast cancer is very low in some Asian countries when compared to the other races. One of the reasons is attributed to their diet. Here are some of the nutrients that can prevent breast cancer. Follow them to experience healthy living.

Vitamin D3:
Vitamin D3 helps in controlling cellular growth and inhibits the growth of cancer cells. The best way to get vitamin D3 is through sun exposure. A study found that safely exposing your skin to the sun reduce the risk of breast cancer by 30 to 40 percent. Well! If you think that is a promotion of nude exposure then go for vitamin D3 foods like, Salmon, tuna, cod fish, cod liver oil, shrimp, wild mushrooms and egg yolks. Some studies indicate that vitamin D may also prevent colon, breast and ovarian cancer.

Citrus Fruits :
Monoterpenes found in citrus fruits appear to help sweep carcinogens out of the body while helping to inhibit the spread of breast cancer cells. Eat all possible citrus fruits including grapefruits, oranges and tangerines.

Oleic Acid
Oleic acid inhibit activity levels of the Her-2/neu gene that triggers breast cancer. The gene is associated with highly aggressive tumors and poor prognosis.

Foods rich in oleic acid are, Olive oil, avocados, almond oil, peanut, pecan, cashew and macadamia oils

Green Tea : B A compound called epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG) in Green Tea inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells. It also contains cancer-fighting antioxidants and polyphenols, which reduce the damage done by free radicals. Research states that it is one of the important protective factor responsible for the low rates of breast cancer among Japanese women. Drink one cup of green tea three times a day for healthy living.

Lycopene :
Antioxidant Lycopene is a member of the carotenoid family. Studies have found that lycopene reduces the risk of breast cancer and also attacks free radicals in the body that may trigger cancer. Lycopene are found in foods like tomatoes (particularly cooked varieties such as tomato sauces, paste and ketchup), watermelons, carrots, red peppers, apricots, papaya, pink grapefruit and guava

Indole-3-carbinol
Indole-3-carbinol are formed when certain vegetables are crushed or cooked. Research has found that it deactivates an estrogen metabolite that promotes tumor growth, particularly in breast cells. It's also been found to keep cancer cells from spreading to other parts of the body.

Foods rich in Indole-3-carbinol are broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, collard greens, kale, bok choy, arugula, horseradish, radishes, watercress, daikon, kohlrabi, mustard greens and rutabaga. Indole-3-carbinol belongs to the glucosinolate family.

Other food:
The Maitake mushrooms, a popular Japanese Mushroom also has proven effects on breast cancer. They contain an important component called D-fraction which ceases the growth of cancerous tumors.

Vtamin B12 stops the growth of cancer cells. It is given to breast cancer patients as part of the chemotherapy, which helps to keep the cancer under control. Eat plenty of allium vegetables like garlic, onions, leeks, and shallots for effective prevention.
