Causes Of Bra Allergy
Bra allergies are directly related to the constructions of the bra. If your body is not resistant to the metal or the elastic that they use, you will find some rashes and skin irritation around the breasts.
Like other allergies the best way to get rid of it is to stay away from them. But, can you think of any outwear without your bra? Do not worry. Here are some solutions to get rid of bra allergies.
Latex
allergy:
Bra
elastics
are
made
of
latex.
If
your
skin
is
not
resistant
to
this
material
then
you
will
suffer
from
allergic
reactions
like
dryness,
itching,
burning,
scaling,
conjunctivitis
and
lesions
of
the
skin.
The
reaction
is
more
severe
if
it
spreads
and
lasts
longer.
Latex allergy is an allergic reaction to substances in natural latex. Materials like balloons, gloves, bandages, computer mouse pads, clothing including elastic or underwear, have latex material in them. Latex allergies have been diagnosed through ages but there is no specific treatment for complete cure other than prevention.
So if you are suffering from those symptoms the first step would be to consult a doctor. Doctors' recommend, 'Tropical Corticosteroids' to treat the results from the exposure to the chemicals in the latex. 'Antihistamines' to treat itching, hives and redness due to latex protein. Epinephrine is used when the allergic reactions are severe.
The next step is to use bra that do not have latex in them. Cotton bras with cotton adjustable straps are ideal. You can buy them in your local store. If you are looking for fancy ones then consult professional bra makers and ask them to stitch a bra without latex. Bras by Lucy, Bra Smythe and professional bra makers of Canada are few such examples. It may be expensive; but money should not be a matter for all those risks. The other method would be to insert a piece of cloth under the area, which has elastic. But all those stuffing would look weird. Wear or carry a medical alert bracelet, key chain or necklace that will warn you whenever you come in contact with latex.
Nickel
allergy:
If
the
bra
clips
are
made
of
nickel
and
your
skin
is
allergic
to
it.
You
will
surely
have
bra
allergies.
The
symptoms
are
the
skin
will
become
itchy,
turn
red,
blisters
and
even
bleed
in
worst
situations.
Doctors
do
patch
test
to
detect
nickel
allergy.
Follow the precautions to avoid nickel allergy. Use fasteners, clips and snaps made of plastic, coated or painted metal, or some other metal. Applying 1% of hydrocortisone base cream on the affected areas two or three times a day will be effective. Compresses made of Burrow's solution diluted with water will help dry up blisters. Emollient cream will alleviate the dryness and itch of dermatitis.
Washing
Bra:
Using
unwashed
bra
for
a
long
time
will
also
lead
to
skin
irritation.
Bras
should
be
free
of
dirt,
sweat
and
grime.
Here
are
some
tips
on
how
to
wash
a
bra
for
the
safe
and
protective
skin.
It
is
advisable
to
wash
a
bra
and
then
use
it
after
purchasing
a
brand
new
one.
If
you
are
a
person
who
sweats
a
lot
then
you
should
be
washing
them
after
every
wear
especially
the
ones
which
you
use
when
you
are
jogging
or
playing
any
sport
because
its
harbors
bacteria
can
cause
breakouts
on
the
back.
Wash
it
properly
so
that
perspiration
and
body
oils
don't
linger.
Wash your bra with mild detergents in cold water; using harsh detergents may cause irritation around your nipple or skin. Do not wash it with the rest of your clothing. It is preferable to place then in a lingerie bag before you wash them in the washing machine. Never place the bras in the dryer, it will break the elastic in the fabric, and you will have to replace them often.
It's not hard to get rid of bra allergies. But anyone can be affected at any age. Follow the guidelines to get rid of those itchy bras.
