Does Daily Consumption Of Meat Increase Cancer Risk?
Are you a red meat lover? Does eating meat cause cancer? All these questions confuse us, as many love to gorge on it quite often. In order to lead a healthy lifestyle you must acquaint yourself with the latest information based on the recent researches and studies on food habits. According to a topical study, women who consume red meat pretty often are disposed to a greater risk for breast cancer.
Red meat contains pork, veal, fresh beef and mutton plus the processed meats that come along with these animals. These foodstuffs definitely enhance the food value as they abound with iron, zinc, protein and B vitamins. Nevertheless, the cholesterol and saturated fat present in these can have harmful effects on your health. Moreover, the procedure through which the red meat is processed and prepared can also have an effect on your health. These are the main reasons for which you should restrict red meat consumption & avoid cancer risk.
There is a myriad of red meat side effects which include stroke, heart attack, diabetes and cancer. Among the other diseases cancer is the most life-threatening disease. Thus, in order to decrease the risk of cancer you should substitute your red meat serving with a blend of nuts, fish, poultry and legumes. Researchers say that, if you replace your daily red meat intake with a healthy combination of beans or peas, chicken, nuts, eggs and fish it can bring down the risk of breast cancer by about fourteen percent.
According to some latest studies, women who daily consumed red meat of about 1.5 servings had 22% greater risk of having breast cancer as compared to those who consumed only one serving of red meat per day. However, if you are taking these facts and figures seriously, then you should not wait till your postmenopausal, chop down your red meat intake from today itself. If you improve your food habits in your early years, you will be less susceptible to breast cancer in your later stage.
Red meat can enhance your probability of getting cancer in a number of ways. For instance, red meat includes a protein which is known as “heme”. This protein contains the iron of the red meat. The “heme” can simply go through a chemical alteration in your intestine to form compounds named as- “N-nitroso compounds”. These N-nitroso compounds are in turn responsible for the colorectal (colon and rectal) cancer.
Studies say that people who take a daily intake of 5 ounces of red meat are more prone to develop colon cancer. The consumption of pork increases the possibility of rectal cancer, whereas the intake of lamb fosters colon cancer. Thus, in order to avert some detrimental red meat side effects which are the rectal and colon cancers, you should cut down your red meat consumption as soon as possible.
Gastric cancer is also one of the numerous meat side effects which is caused by eating large amounts of salted red meat. The progesterone and estrogen sensitive breast cancer are also one of the various meat side effects which are mainly due to the presence of fat content in the red meat.
Thus, from the above statistics, it is advised to cut down your red meat intake not only to decrease the risk of cancer but also the other numerous meat side effects such as- atherosclerosis, endometriosis, osteoporosis, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity and kidney diseases.
