Steps To Recover After Binge Eating
You threw caution to the winds and munched on some pizza and yummy fried stuff last night. You are bound to wake up with a gassy stomach and a guilty conscience the next day after binge eating. Overeating is a not as serious a crime as you make it to be. Considering each one of us are immune to binge eating once in a while, you should take it in your stride. What to do after binge eating is the important thing to learn.
If you have been following a strict diet to lose weight, then one night of binge eating will not turn everything topsy-turvy. It takes more than a plate full of biriyani to make you gain weight. Usually, crimes such as overeating happen over the weekend. But there are some simple ways to recover if you know what to do after binge eating on the weekends.
The first step after overeating is not to panic. Stress and panic can slow down your fat metabolism. And never starve yourself after you have done some overeating. Your body gets confused when you skip meals after binge eating. It goes into starvation mode and starts storing fats. So be as normal as you can be after you eat too much. That is the key to getting yourself and your weight loss plan back on track. Here are the steps to recover after binge eating on a weekend.
Don't Panic
When you panic or get stressed, the stress hormone cortisol plays havoc with your system. It slows down your fat metabolism and you end up synthesising less of the fat that you have just consumed.
Put An End To It
One night of overeating will not 'blow' your diet. So put an end to binge eating then and there. There is no need to go the whole hog.
Have Breakfast
Never skip meals after you eat too much at night. Especially breakfast is one meal you must never miss. Have a filling breakfast even if you feel gassy and sluggish in the morning.
Don't Weigh Yourself
If you want to stay away from panic, do not weigh yourself just after you have eaten too much. You might weigh a little more but that is temporary.
Cut Down Starting From Lunch
You need to cut back on your calories, so start from lunch. Have a light lunch followed by a healthy evening snacks and an early dinner.
Notch Up Your Workout
You need to step up on your exercise a little to deal with binge eating. You did 30 minutes of cardios everyday, you need to work it up to 40 minutes. If you did 20 counts of squats, then push yourself to do 25.
Detox Yourself
You can do a detox diet for 7 days after you binge eat. You can live on fluids for 7 days and have only organic food to flush out the toxins and also the trans fats from your body.
Be Regular From The Next Day
Another way to go about it is to pretend that the episode of binge eating never happened. Be normal from the next day. One day of overeating will not affect your diet.
Cook At Home
Avoid eating out after you have eaten too much or cheated on your diet. When you cook at home, you can keep the calorie count under check.
Stick To Meal Timings
Have your food on time to make sure that you recover from binge eating. You must have breakfast early, lunch before 1 pm and definitely wind up with an early dinner. This brings you back on schedule.
