14 Fitness Mistakes Most Guys Make
Fitness mistakes are something that you just cannot afford to make. The sole purpose of doing exercises is to stay fit. But there are some fitness mistakes that most guys make. These common fitness mistakes can be easily avoided. Some part of gyming is a ‘guy' thing. You will notice that the weight training section of the gym is almost exclusively occupied by guys. Most of these fitness mistakes that men make are linked to weight training.
The fitness mistakes that most guys make are usually the most narcissistic ones. Most guys work out for the mirror. So they end up working only on the muscles that are for good looks. But fitness is a much more holistic process. And when you make certain workout mistakes, you are actually missing the main point of fitness being a process.
Most men try and build their bulk by pushing themselves very hard. Sometimes, they lift more weight than they are supposed to. At other times, they lift the wrong kind of weights or use maladjusted weights for their needs. Some fitness mistakes also happen because you train without a proper trainer or forget your age.
Here are some fitness mistakes that guys tend to make and you need to avoid.
Working Out Cold Muscles
Warming up muscles is very important. So don't just hit the gym and start working out without warming up. Most people do not take warm ups seriously. You should never make these workout mistakes.
Stretching Too Quickly
Stretching out muscles is just as important as warming up. But do not confuse the two. Warming up is making the blood flow into your muscles and stretching is loosening them up. Stretch slowly because you are most prone to injuries while stretching too fast.
Cheating On Cardios
Most men think that cardios are for women and really fat guys who need to lose weight. They save time from the cardios and try to add it to weight training time. Never cheat on cardios because burning calories is one of the main parts of fitness.
Unmindful Exercising
Many people keep doing crunches for many days without losing any belly fat. This happens because the use their shoulders to lift themselves instead of their abdomen. This is just a example of unmindful exercising.
Working Out For The Mirror
Most men make the mistake of working out only on their abs and their biceps. This helps them look wider and shapely. But even your hidden muscles like your hamstrings need workout.
Not Drinking Enough Fluids
If you do not drink enough water, you are making yourself prone to injuries. When you exercise, you are drying up your muscles. You must drink enough fluids as you workout.
Following Celebrity Examples
Most men who work out follow celebrity workout buddies like Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger. For example, the bench is a favourite of Arnold Schwarzenegger. You need to work out according to the capacity of your body. Examples do not work in this case.
Lifting Too Much Weight
It is only human to want to lift as much weight as possible to feel like a ‘big guy'. You need to curb your instincts here. Concentrate on every movement of weight lifting instead of lifting too much weight mindlessly. You will see that you have better cuts.
Doing The Same Old Workout
Doing the same old workout month after month will get you into the rut of the gym. Your body adjusts to any kind of workout that you do regularly. So keep changing your workout.
Rushing The Repetitions
If you try to go through the exercise as quickly as possible, then you will not get fulfilling results. Rushing the repeat exercises speeds up your heart beat and puts pressure on your heart.
Using Maladjusted Machines
You need to adjust the gym machines as per your needs every time you use them. Never use gym machines that have been adjusted to someone else's requirements.
Forgetting Your Age
May be you could do 500 squats when you were 35. But now that you are 40, you need to slow down. Never forget your age and push yourself too hard.
Being A Weekend Warrior
Weekend warriors are people who work out too much during the weekend to compensate for lack of exercise during the week. This is a dangerous habit. The most important thing about workout is regularity.
Skipping Cool Down
It is as important to cool down after a workout as it is to warm up before exercising. You must allow your body to cool down or else, you will leave your muscles high and dry.
