Walking Versus Running? Debate Continues...

Walking versus running is a pretty universal debate and one that has no real fixed outcome. So there is no point in trying to decide which one is better than the other. Both are different kinds of exercises and have different intensities. Walking has benefits of its own and so does jogging. So the problem with this discussion of walking versus running is that we are comparing two unequal entities. The only equal footing in this debate of walking versus jogging is that they are both exercises.

Here are some exercise tips for you. But they will not make you decide in favour of or against in this conflict of walking versus running exercises. The best points and benefits of both are being stated.

Walking Versus Running: Which To Choose?

  • The main difference between these two exercises is intensity. Running obviously is a more strenuous exercise than walking. So your weight loss by jogging is also much more than by walking.
  • Walking is not a leisurely activity either. This is because by walking we don't mean a stroll in the park with your friends. Nor do we signify walking in the garden hand in hand with your beloved. Walking is an exercise only if you do it has an exercise. Other wise the benefits of walking will not reach your body.
  • Walking preferably has to be done alone. The problem of walking with somebody is that you have to adjust to the pace of that person which might be slower or faster than yours. If it is slower then you will be wasting your potential and if it is faster you will wear yourself out prematurely. So to avail the benefits of walking, walk alone!
  • Jogging has its benefits too. As has already been said jogging for weight loss yields results faster. It also a very good cardiovascular exercise. A lot of blood is pumped by your heart and your lungs expands to the greatest extent. The more you push your lungs in youth to function, the better it will.
  • Actually, whether jogging is better or walking also depends on the purpose of your exercise. Suppose you don't want to loose weight and just stay fit; walking is a better option for you. However, if you are overweight and need intensive weight loss then it would have to be jogging that you choose because walking doesn't really burn enough calories to show on your body.
  • It also depends on the stage of life you are in. Running for young people is a good exercise because their muscles are young. If they pamper themselves by walking slowly all the time then soon they will loose their flexibility. However, in an advanced age, starting 50 you need to slow down to brisk walking. Later middle ages, it is not a good time to put pressure on your heart.

So, the conflict of walking versus running continues but now you have a better picture of each.
