Chhaya Mehrotra: Born in one of the oldest textile printing families of Banaras, Chhaya has always been fascinated with fabrics and colour. Her desire to pursue design as a career earned her a degree in Textile Design from NIFT (2003). The family-controlled business — passed down through generations — hasn't drifted from its ethos of clear-cut uncompromised luxury. Lady Luck ensured her husband was into the textile business too and Chhaya continued spearheading the design aesthetic of her family business. A desire to work with diverse surface techniques and a spectrum of colours in addition to a yen for finesse in all her creations injected new energy into classic looks and won her patrons nationwide.
About the brand: Chhaya launched her label in 2009 after relocating to Noida and applied just enough of her own characteristic design aesthetic to the venerable signatures to create a look that balances Indian heritage with the utmost respect for luxurious urban chic.
