Kashmir Was, Is And Will Remain The Favourite

Kashmir Valley
Violence can never bring prosperity. Just for a certain section of people, the place, as beautiful as Kashmir had lost its predominant charm - the beauty of the place. Because of the on going clashes, the place has been losing on the tourism aspect.

But now, things have started changing. Tourists and nature lovers have begun to visit Jammu and Kashmir since normalcy has begun to prevail after a spate of recent unrest and violence in some parts of the Kashmir valley. Once a favored holiday destination, Kashmir tourism suffered a major setback due to re-occurrence of violence in the state.

Tourists had to either cancel or postpone their trips in the wake of unrest over the alleged rape and murder of two women in Shopian and then off and on Bandh calls and political protests related to it. But now with the peaceful environment returning in the valley, tourists have started thronging the State. "We were supposed to come here in June but postponed our visit due to the problem out here," said Suresh, a tourist. "But now it's very safe and really beautiful. We would love to come back here," concludes the exciting man.

Along with this, there has also been a stiff rise in the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, boosting the Kashmir Tourism sector. For people, visiting the place, a lot felt the place deserved much better. "The shutdown and other problems hamper tourism a bit and even people hesitate to make a visit, but after coming here," said Mahesh, another tourist "We realised that things are different and we are feeling really good."

State elections and the Shopian episode seem to have been one of the main reasons for the hesitancy that has aroused amongst the tourist wanting to go exploring the place. Azim Tuman, president, House Boat Owners Association, Srinagar says, "Kashmir tourism suffered a setback during the state elections and due to the recent Shopian episode. However, now tourism has started picking up fast."

Kashmir has been among the top Asian tourism destinations, particularly for the honeymoon couples, holidaying crowd, nature lovers, skiers and trekkers.

kashmir is bleeding, it need to be healed first. kashmir demands solution of conflict and tourism is no solution. india should demilitarize kasmir first before thinking of any tourism. kashmiri cannot afford to show other people beauty of their land, enhance their joy while they themselves are bleeding.
