Spinach Corn Au Gratin For Easter

Easter is just round the corner. After a long period of lent, it is time to enjoy delectable food. Cakes, chocolates, Easter eggs are part of the celebrations but the best thing about Easter is sitting down with the whole family to enjoy delicious meals.

To help you out with the Easter menu, today we have a special vegetarian recipe which is sure to delight your taste-buds. It is a French dish known as the spinach and corn au gratin. Au gratin refers to a dish which is baked with a topping of cheese and breadcrumbs. This is a baked dish with a lot of cheese which makes it taste mushy and divine.

Spinach Corn Au Gratin For Easter

So, check out the recipe for spinach corn au gratin and have a grand Easter lunch.

Serves: 3
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Spinach- 1 cup (chopped)
  • Sweet corn kernels- 1 cup (boiled)
  • Garlic- 8-10 pods (chopped)
  • Cheese- ½ cup (grated)
  • Breadcrumbs- ¼ cup
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Pepper powder- 1tsp
  • Olive oil- 1tsp

For White Sauce

  • Milk- 1 cup
  • All purpose flour (maida)- 2 ½ tbsp
  • Nutmeg powder- a pinch
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Pepper powder- a pinch
  • Olive oil- 1tbsp

Procedure
1. To prepare the white sauce, mix the maida and milk together in a bowl. Make sure no lumps are formed.
2. Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in a pan and pour the milk and flour mixture into it.
3. Keep stirring while the sauce starts to boil.
4. Add salt, nutmeg powder and pepper powder to it. Mix well.
5. Cook for 2-3 minutes and then switch off the flame. Keep the white sauce aside.
6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celsius.
7. Heat olive oil in a pan and add the chopped garlic and saute it for a minute.
8. Then add spinach and cook on medium flame for about 3-4 minutes.
9. Add salt, pepper powder and the corn kernels. Cook for another 3-4 minutes.
10. Switch off the heat and transfer the spinach corn mixture to a baking dish.
11. Pour in the white sauce and mix well.
12. Put it into the oven and bake the mixture for 8 minutes.
13. After 8 minutes, take out the dish out of the oven and sprinkle the grated cheese and breadcrumbs over the spinach corn mixture.
14. Again put the dish into the oven and bake it for another 7 minutes.
15. Once done, switch off the oven and allow the dish to stand for 5-6 minutes.

Spinach corn au gratin is ready to be served. Serve this dish hot to get the perfect flavour.
