Lauki Chana Dal With Coconut Recipe

We all know the basic ghiya ki sabji recipe where the ghiya or lauki are cooked with onions, garlic and tomatoes. However, here is a slight difference that Boldsky has got for you in this recipe. The trick in this lauki chana dal recipe is to add chopped coconut in the preparation. This lauki chana dal recipe is special because it has some crunchy coconut pieces which makes it taste all the more delicious. Check out the recipe.

 Lauki Chana Dal With Coconut Recipe

Serves: 2
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

1. Lauki- ½ kg (peeled and cut into small pieces)
2. Onion- 2 (chopped)
3. Ginger and garlic paste- 1tsp
4. Green chillies- 2-3 (chopped)
5. Tomato- 1 (chopped)
6. Chana dal- ½ cup (soaked in water)
7. Turmeric powder- 1tsp
8. Red chilli powder- 1tsp
9. Coriander powder- 1tsp
10. Cumin seeds- 1tsp
11. Oil- 1tbsp
12. Water- ½ cup
13. Salt- as per taste

Boldsky's special Ingredient

Coconut- 1tbsp (finely chopped)
Amchur powder- 1tsp

Procedure

1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Season with cumin seeds.
2. Now add onions, ginger and garlic paste and green chillies. Saute for about 2-3 minutes and cook on a medium flame.
3. Add salt, turmeric powder, chopped lauki and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
4. When the onions and tomatoes look tender, add coconut, chana dal and mix well.
5. Pour half a cup of water and close the cooker with the lid. Pressure cook for a duration of one whistle.
6. Once the pressure is released, open the lid and add amchur powder.

The tangy and crunchy lauki and chana dal with coconut is ready to eat. Serve it hot.
