Dry Aloo Matar Recipe
The season of green peas is here. It is time to buy some fresh green peas and not the frozen ones and prepare some mouth watering dishes. Commonly known as matar, the green vegetable can be added as a one of the ingredients to prepare many dishes in the Indian cuisine.
There are many recipes which can be prepared using matar. From matar paneer to aloo matar, the recipes vary depending on the taste and timings. As working people run out of time and want to try quick recipes, here is a simple dry aloo matar recipe to prepare using the seasonal vegetable, green peas. Ingredients
1.
Potatoes-
3-4
2.
Onion-
2
(sliced)
3.
Matar-
½
cup
4.
Green
chilli-
2
(chopped)
5.
Turmeric
powder-
1tsp
6.
Red
chilli
powder-
1tsp
7.
Cumin
seeds-
½
tsp
8.
Salt-
as
per
taste
9.
Oil-
2tsp
Procedure
1.
Wash
the
potatoes
and
cut
into
two
halves.
2.
In
a
pressure
cooker,
boil
the
potatoes
for
a
duration
of
2-3
whistles.
3.
Once
the
pressure
releases,
open
the
lid
and
let
the
potatoes
cool.
Peel
them
and
keep
aside.
4.
Heat
oil
in
a
frying
pan.
Season
with
cumin
seeds.
5.
Saute
onions
for
3-4
minutes
till
they
become
tender
and
look
golden
brown.
Now
add
the
green
peas,
turmeric
powder
and
salt.
6.
Mix
well
and
add
green
chillies.
Saute
for
a
few
seconds
and
then
sprinkle
red
chilli
powder.
7.
Now
add
the
potatoes
and
mix
well
so
that
the
ingredients
are
evenly
absorbed.
Aloo matar is ready to eat. Serve it hot with rotis.
