Dhaba Style Handi Paneer

Dhaba recipes are generally rich and spicy. Handi paneer is one of those delectable dhaba recipes. The paneer is cooked in a yogurt based gravy and then served in an earthen pot or 'handi'. Hence, it is named handi paneer. The blend of desi spices with the richness of cream make this paneer recipe a hit among vegetarian foodies.

Dhaba Style Handi Paneer

Ingredients

  • Paneer- 200gms (cut into cubes)
  • Yogurt- ½ cup (beaten)
  • Onion- 1 (sliced)
  • Tomatoes- 2 (chopped)
  • Green chillies- 3 (chopped)
  • Ginger-garlic paste- 2tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1tsp
  • Pepper powder- 1tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1tsp
  • Garam masala powder- 1tsp
  • Bay leaf- 1
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Oil- 2tbsp
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Fresh cream- 1tbsp
  • Coriander leaves- 2tsp (chopped)
  • Earthen pot- 1 (medium sized)

Procedure

  1. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan. Fry the paneer cubes for 2-3 minutes till they turn light brown on medium flame. Remove and keep it aside.
  2. Again heat one tablespoon oil in another or same pan and season with a bay leaf.
  3. Now add the onions and fry for 3-4 minutes till it turns golden brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies. Fry for about 2 minutes.
  5. Then add chopped tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder one by one and stir fry for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame.
  6. Now add the beaten yogurt to it and keep stirring continuously for about a minute.
  7. Add water and bring the gravy to boil.
  8. Now add the fried paneer cubes to it. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes on a low flame.
  9. Once done, switch off the flame. Transfer the contents from the pan to the earthen pot.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve this delicious dhaba style handi paneer with rotis or kulchas.
