Wheat/ Godhuma Rava Upma Recipe

People have become so conscious these days that they are trying out everything possible on the market list to loose weight and to stay fit. It is the younger generation of people who have turned to multiple diets to stay healthy and by keeping fit, a lot of their diet plans have been changed accordingly.

As we know, upma was mainly made out of sooji, but today since the world is running after ingredients which contains little or no calories, wheat and rava seems to do the trick to keep one fit and loose those pounds in a hurry.

Weight watchers, this morning you can try out this yummy breakfast recipe, wheat rava upma. It is made out of two ingredients which will keep your weighing scale in track and your body fit till you are post 60 too.

Wheat/ Godhuma Rava Upma Recipe

Here is how you make wheat rava upma, take a look:

Serves : 4
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Wheat Rava - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 (chopped)
  • Tomato - 1 (chopped)
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Mint Leaves - a sprig (optional)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Green Chillies - 1 (sliced)
  • Curry Leaves - handful
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp

Procedure

  1. In a pressure cooker, over a low flame, heat a little oil. When the oil is hot, add to the cooker the mustard seeds, urad dal, chillies, curry leave and hing. Now stir these ingredients in the cooker and allow it to cook for 5 minutes of so.
  2. When the ingredients are fried well, add to the cooker the onions and fry it till it turns into a golden brown.
  3. To the cooker, add in the chopped tomato and saute till you see the tomatoes shrinking.
  4. Now add to the cooker, the mint leaves and fry it gently using a flat spoon.
  5. Saute the ingredients for a minute or two and then gently add the water to the cooker. Wait for the water to boil on a medium flame. Add the salt in to the cooker.
  6. Once the water starts boiling, add in the wheat rava and pressure cook the ingredients for a whistle on a medium flame. Once pressure releases, just give it a quick stir.

Your Wheat/ Godhuma Rava Upma is now ready to eat. You can enjoy this yummy and healthy breakfast with ghee or sugar as a topping.
