Dill and lentils have essential elements that help providing the necessary nutrients for a mother. Dill helps in increasing milk production, while lentils are a good source of protein.

Dill & Lentil Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

2 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 cup tomatoes, finely chopped
2 cups lentils cooked
1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh coriander finely chopped
6 cups reduced-sodium vegetable broth or the water used for cooking the lentils
Salt and pepper

Mode of preparation

  • Heat oil in a thick saucepan. Add the onion and garlic. Stir till they turn translucent.
  • Next add the carrot and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Next tip in the tomatoes and dill leaves. Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Finally, add the broth. Top it with chopped coriander. Add salt and pepper as per taste.
  • Simmer for a couple of minutes. Serve hot.

Dill and lentil soup is a rich source of protein, while the carrots help in providing Vitamin A. The garlic in the soup also promotes towards improving breast milk supply.
