Crispy Corn Fingers Recipe: Tea Time Snack

How about some crispy corn fingers along with a steaming cup of coffee? Sounds great, isn't it? These crispy delights are quick and easy to prepare and gives that melt in the mouth feeling once you pop them in. Crispy corn fingers are an excellent tea time snack with the goodness of corn and the mushy taste of cheese inside.

The recipe for crispy corn fingers is extremely easy. You just have to keep some corn kernels handy. Fry up these mouthwatering snacks in minutes and enjoy your coffee by the window side munching on these crispy delights.

Crispy Corn Fingers Recipe

So, here is the lip-smacking recipe of crispy corn fingers. Do give it a try.

Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Corn kernels- 1 cup (boiled and mashed)
  • Milk- 1 cup
  • Potatoes- 2 (boiled and mashed)
  • Cheese- 2tbsp (grated)
  • All purpose flour- 2tbsp
  • Cornflour- 1tbsp
  • Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
  • Pepper powder- 1tsp
  • Cumin powder- 1tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Water- ½ cup
  • Bread crumbs- ½ cup
  • Butter- 1tbsp
  • Oil- for deep frying

Procedure

  1. Heat butter in a pan and add the mashed corn kernels, salt, milk and cook for about 6-7 minutes on medium flame till the milk is absorbed completely by the corn.
  2. Switch off the flame and transfer the corn mixture into a mixing bowl. Let it cool down.
  3. Add boiled and mashed potatoes, pepper powder, green chillies, cheese, coriander leaves and cumin powder to it.
  4. Mix well with your hands and make a soft dough.
  5. Make 10-12 fingers out of the mixture and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  7. Make a batter of all purpose flour, cornflour, salt and water.
  8. Spread the bread crumbs on a plate.
  9. Take out the corn fingers out of the refrigerator and dip them one by one in the flour batter. Make sure all the sides are coated properly by the batter.
  10. Roll them in the bread crumbs and coat each side well.
  11. Now carefully fry them in the oil for 3-4 minutes on medium flame till all the sides turn golden brown.
  12. Once done, transfer the fried corn fingers on a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
  13. Once the oil is drained transfer them on a serving platter and serve.

The crispy and delicious corn fingers are ready to be served. Enjoy this finger licking tea time snack with the ketchup of your choice.
