Cream And Butter Scones

Early in the morning, we crave for something warm, sweet and yummy. Cream and butter scones qualifies in all three categories of our morning cravings. That is why butter scones are such a favourite among breakfast recipes. Making buttered scones are not as difficult as baking cookies. In fact, you could say that scones are easy to bake cookies or bread.

Even the name cream and butter scones suggests that the dish will be soft and mushy. This breakfast recipe has both butter and cream to give you a shot of energy at the start of the day. Scones are easy to bake and can be made quickly too. You can have cream and butter scones ready-to-eat in about 45 minutes.

Butter Scones

The best thing about this breakfast recipe is that kids just love it. If you have a fussy eater at home then you must definitely try this dish.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Baking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour- 2 cups
  • Granulated sugar- 3tbsp
  • Milk- 1 cup
  • White or unsalted butter- 50gms
  • Eggs- 2 (beaten)
  • Fresh Cream- 1 cup
  • Vanilla essence- few drops
  • Maple syrup- 2tbsp
  • Salt-as per taste

Procedure

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees while you prepare the scones.

2. In a large mixing bowl, add flour, milk and sugar. Whip to mix it up.

3. Now cut 1 inch pieces of cold butter and drop it into the mixture of flour.

4. Mix the butter pieces in the flour roughly.

5. In another bowl take eggs, cream and salt. Whip it to make a uniform mix.

6. Pour it into the flour and add vanilla essence to it.

7. Mix up the ingredients lightly. The dough that you get should look coarse or full of crumbs.

8. Now make balls out of the dough you have prepared and flatten them a little with your palms.

9. Grease a baking dish and place a butter paper on it.

10. Place the scones on the paper and bake for 20 to 25 minutes on 60 per cent power.

You can serve the hot cream and butter scones with maple syrup.
