Spicy: Chepala Pulusu Recipe For Lunch

All You Need

  • Fish - ½ kg
  • Tamarind - 3 pieces (soak in water)
  • Green Chillies- 4 (sliced)
  • Onion - 1 (chopped)
  • Chilli Powder- 1 tbsp
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander - 1 sprig (chopped)
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Jeera Powder - 1 tsp
  • Poppy seeds powder - 1tsp
  • Cardamom - 3
  • Clove - 4
  • Cinnamon - 2
  • Garlic - 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - 3

Procedure

  1. Make a paste from - poppy seeds powder ,cardamom, cinnamon, clove and garlic.
  2. In a bowl add the washed fish, add in the turmeric powder. Now add in the green chillies, onion, chilli powder, coriander powder, and jeera powder. Mix all these ingredients well.
  3. Now add in a little oil to the fish bowl and also add in the paste.
  4. Now on a low flame, place the bowl and allow it to cook.
  5. Add in salt to taste.
  6. Now add to the bowl and allow it to cook. Make sure that the gravy is not that thick.
  7. Close the lid and leave on the flame for 10 minutes
  8. After 5 minutes check the dish and then add in the curry leaves.
  9. Pour in the tamarind water to the dish and continue to cook it.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve.

Allow the fish to soak in the spices when you are boiling it. Let it cook over a medium flame.
