Spaghetti In Red Meatball Sauce

Spaghetti recipes are basically Italian by origin. In case you didn't know, spaghetti is just another type of pasta. So, all those wonderful Italian recipes for pasta can be replicated with spaghetti as well. However, Spaghetti in meatball sauce is by far the most popular dish among kids.

Meat sauce can be made in two ways. One is the brown soy based gravy and other is the red tomato based gravy. Here we have tried the red tomato based meatball sauce because of its popularity. As it is an Italian recipe, spaghetti in meatball sauce has some touches of Italian ingredients. However, most of the ingredients in this dish are basic. You can try spaghetti in meatball sauce even if you are not planning to go for shopping of the special ingredients.

Spaghetti In Meatball Sauce

Serves: 3
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti- 1 packet
  • Minced meat (lamb)- 500 grams
  • Green chillies- 4+2 (chopped)
  • Garlic pods- 10 (minced)
  • Coriander leaves- 2 sprigs (chopped)
  • Corn flour- 2tbsp
  • Tomato- 4 (pureed)
  • Onion- 1 (chopped finely)
  • Pepper powder- 1tsp
  • Oregano- 1/2 tsp
  • Rosemary oil- 1tsp
  • Basil leaves- 5 (chopped)
  • Olive oil- 1tbsp
  • Refines oil- 1 cup (for deep frying)
  • Salt- as per taste

Procedure

  1. Boil the spaghetti in 4 cups of water, salt and a teaspoon of oil for 7-8 minutes on a low flame.
  2. Drain the water and douse the boiled spaghetti with olive oil so that it doesn't stick together to form a lump.
  3. Meanwhile, take the minced meat in a large mixing bowl. Add salt, 4 chopped green chillies, half of the minced garlic and coriander leaves to the bowl.
  4. Finally, add cornflour and knead the mixture like a dough.
  5. Now make small (1 inch diameter) balls out of the meat mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan and when it steams add meatballs to the pan and deep fry them till they turn golden brown.
  7. This should take about 8-10 minutes on a low flame. Stain the fried meatball and keep them aside.
  8. In another pan, warm olive oil. Add the onions to it and saute till they turn golden.
  9. Then add the minced garlic and 2 green chillies; cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  10. Pour the tomato puree into the pan. Add salt, pepper, oregano and basil leaves.
  11. Mix it up and simmer to a low flame for about 5 minutes. Add half a cup of water if necessary.
  12. Add the meatballs to the pan; cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
  13. Drizzle rosemary oil from the top and remove from flame.

Pour the meatball sauce over the boiled spaghetti on a plate. You can serve spaghetti in meatball sauce garnished with some grated cheese.
