Indian Style Chilli Chicken: Video

Chilli chicken is a dish that almost every non-vegetarian Indian has tasted more than once. It is one of our favourite exports from China. Indian style chilli chicken is not at all the same as the original Chinese version. The only thing that we retain in the chilli chicken recipe is the soy sauce. Our chilli chicken is deep fried, spicy and full of chillies.

Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
Lemon Juice- 2 lemons
Egg- 1
Chicken stock- 1 cup
Tomato ketchup- 2tbsp
Red chilli sauce- 1tbsp
Soy sauce- 2tbsp
Ginger- 1 inch (chopped)
Green chilli- 2 (chopped)
Garlic- 5-6 cloves (chopped)
Spring Onion- 1 cup (chopped)
Corn Flour 1 cup
All Purpose Flour- ½ cup
Vinegar- 2tbsp
Salt- as per taste
Oil- 3tbsp

Procedure
Marinate the chicken pieces with ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and salt.
Leave the marinated chicken aside for 15 minutes.
Add 1 beaten egg to the chicken after this, mix and let it sit for another 15 minutes.
Mix the corn flour and all purpose flour with salt. Add 1 cup of water to it.
Heat 2tbsp oil in a frying pan.
Coat the chicken pieces with the batter and drop it into the oil.
Saute the chicken pieces for at least 7-8 minutes so that they are thoroughly browned on all sides.
Heat about 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add the chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies and the bulb of spring onions to the pan.
Saute for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame.
Lower the flame and add vinegar, soy sauce, chilli sauce and tomato ketchup and mix it up nicely.
Cook for 1 minute and then add chicken stock.
If you have a sauce of the right consistency, you can add the fried chicken pieces to the sauce.
If the sauce is still watery, add 1tsp of corn flour to it.
Then garnish the chilli chicken with onion greens to the pan. Mix it up and you will get the lovely green colour.
Do not add too much salt to the sauce because all the sauces have salt in them.

Enjoy juicy and spicy chilli chicken with fried rice or noodles.
