Easy Tandoori Chicken Recipe (Without Oven)

Tandoori chicken is basically marinated chicken cooked in a tandoor oven or a normal grill oven. The meat is cooked till tender and the spices give a delicious aroma and flavour to the chicken.

But not many people have ovens or tandoors at home. Students and bachelors usually do not have ovens at home. So, does that mean you can never try out tandoori chicken at home? Not really! We have found a perfect solution for you here. The tandoori chicken recipe which we have for you here today can be made even without a tandoor or oven. You just need a big pan and the cooking ingredients to create magic in your own kitchen.

Easy Tandoori Chicken Recipe (Without Oven)

So, here is the recipe for tandoori chicken which can be prepared without an oven. Check out and give it a try.

Preparation time: 1 hour
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Chicken- 500 gms

For marinade

  • Yogurt- 1 cup
  • Onion- 1
  • Lime juice- 2tbsp
  • Garlic- 2 cloves
  • Ginger- 1 small piece
  • Green chillies- 2
  • Garam masala- 2tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Red food colour- a few drops
  • For cooking
  • Oil- 2-3tbsp

Procedure
1. Wash the chicken pieces and pat dry them with a kitchen towel.
2. Make slits on the pieces with a knife and let the skin remain.
3. Mix salt with the lime juice properly till it dissolves completely. Marinate the chicken pieces with this lime juice properly. Make sure you put it into the slits too.
4. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Then take it out of the refrigerator.
5. Grind the onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies, garam masala together in a mixer into a thick paste.
6. Marinate the chicken pieces properly with this mixture, putting the masala into the slits.
7. Add the food colour and make sure all the pieces are covered completely with it.
8. Keep it back in the refrigerator for another 30-40 minutes.
9. Brush your pan with a little oil and place the marinated chicken pieces on it.
10. Cover and cook the chicken on one side for 10-15 minutes on low flame.
11. After that remove the lid and turn the chicken pieces to the other side and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
12. Once the chicken is completely cooked and turns tender, switch off the flame and serve.

Your tandoori chicken is ready to be served. Enjoy with green chutney and lemon wedges.
