Beef Devilled Curry for Ramzan

Beef curry is one of the favourite delicacy during Ramzan. Beef is not something that you will find easily on an Indian menu. Mutton, chicken, seafood are usually the norm in the non-vegetarian items. However, there are some exotic beef recipes too, which are a hot favourite among the beef lovers. Here is one of those exotic beef recipes to try out during Ramzan.

Beef devilled curry is a delicious and spicy recipe prepared with beef and potatoes. The fragrant spices make this dish an aromatic and tempting treat for your taste-buds. A dash of lime juice gives this recipe a slightly tangy kick which makes it extremely hard to resist.

Beef Devilled Curry for Ramzan

So, prepare beef devilled curry at home during Ramzan and enjoy the delightful meal.

Cooking time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • Beef- ½ kg
  • Potatoes- ¼ kg
  • Red chilly powder- 2tsp
  • Vinegar- 3tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Cinnamon- 2" piece
  • Cloves- a few
  • Garlic- 2 cloves (finely chopped)
  • Cardamoms- 2
  • Ginger- 1 small piece (finely chopped)
  • Sugar- 1tsp
  • Lime- ½
  • Lemon grass- 2"
  • Cooking oil- 2tbsp
  • Curry leaves- a sprig
  • Pandan leaf- 1
  • Onion- 1 (medium sliced)

Method

  1. Cut the beef in ½ inch cubes and season with vinegar, salt and ground chillie powder.
  2. Add chopped garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms and lemon grass and set aside.
  3. Then cut the potatoes in small cubes and season with a little salt and deep fry until golden brown and set aside.
  4. Now heat a pan with little oil and add pandan leaf, curry leaves & onion and stir until onions are light brown.
  5. Then add the beef mixture and stir well.
  6. Stir occasionally, scraping off the bottom.
  7. When cooked, add the fried potato cubes and spread the lime juice and sugar.
  8. Before serving drain the excess oil and stir the curry well.

Your beef devilled curry is ready to be served. Enjoy with steamed rice or chapatis.
