WIFW 2015: Joy Mitra’s Tribute To Satyajit Ray!
It was a tribute to Satyajit Ray on day 5 of Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week 2015 for the Summer Spring collection. Designer Joy Mitra brought in some exquisite designs which made our jaws drop. The ramp was filled with immense joy and glistening with zardosi.
Every season Joy Mitra involves a legendary presence to be a part of his collection. The last time he put his designs on the ramp for the Summer Spring 2014, it was dedicated to Rituporno Ghosh. Joy Mitra gave us a tremendous goosebumps feeling after we witnessed his collection on the WIFW 2015 ramp.
Bringing his inspiration from Satyajit Ray, Joy's collection was all about the Music room. Inspired from the 1958 classic film Jalsaghar by the director Satyajit Ray, this collection was submerged with the latter's taste in style.
On the ramp at WIFW 2014, the line depicts the days of decadent zamindar of Bengal and that of East India. Looking at the intensive work on the collection you will see a deep mystery and grandeur of this era belonging to Satyajit Ray.
Joy Mitra's collection at WIFW 2015 summer spring collection played with a lot of cream and black colours. Here and there we got to see peaches and pinks, but all of them were common in one thing - heavy embroidery.
The work on each of Joy Mitra's outfits was stuffed with zardosi embroidery. The thread work incorporated on the attires gave out a refined appearance. Complementing this heavy collection the accessories were in galore. Long beaded necklaces, embroidery and studded potlis, head accessories to match with the clothing and lots more.
On the whole we also got to see red carpet gowns, which we will soon see celebrities like Raima Sen and Sushmita who loves his collections. Sarees too were displayed on the ramp which were indeed timeless classic fabrics of strong fragrance related to Indian culture.
