9 Festive Mehendi Designs For Rakhi
Raksha Bandhan is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in the northern parts of India. This festival is very special because it celebrates the bond of love between a brother and a sister. On this day, the brother pledges to protect his sister from all the evils in life. Mehendi or henna is a 'shagun' for Raksha Bandhan. Mehendi designs for rakhi are very different from typical bridal mehendi patterns.
Mehendi designs for Raksha Bandhan are basically more trendy than traditional. If you want to try out different types of mehendi designs for your hand, then the festival of rakhi is the best occasion to experiment. There is no harm if your mehendi is not traditional because you are not applying it for any religious ceremony.
You can try various types of mehendi designs for rakhi but the commonest one is the diagonal pattern that runs across your palm. This style is very 'in' and most young girls like to apply henna in this form. Try out these special festive mehendi designs for Raksha Bandhan this year when you tie the band of love on your brother's wrist.
Diagonal Pattern
In this pattern, the henna is applied diagonally across the palms. It starts from the index finger and comes down to the beginning of the wrist.
Rangoli Pattern
Mehendi designs are also drawn in the same way rangolis are made. You begin at the centre and build the design around it.
Floral Pattern
This is the commonest design of mehendi. The motifs used in this type of mehendi pattern are floral.
Nua
Mehendi is a kind of 'shagun' on Raksha Bandhan. You must cover your fingernails with henna paste as part of tradition if you don't have time to apply mehendi properly.
Full Circle
This mehendi design is sketched in parts. You have to draw half the design in one palm and the other half in your other palm. When the two come together, the design will be complete.
Starry Pattern
Stars are also a common motif in mehendi patterns. Unlike flowers, petals, leaves and elephants, stars are not traditional. Starry mehendi is trendy.
Mehendi Tattoo
If you apply mehendi like a tattoo, then you will be maintaining tradition and also keeping your style mantra cool.
Peacock Mehendi
This diagonal design of henna spread out like a peacock opening up its feathered tail.
Minaret Pattern
This design has minarets in it like the ancient tombs of the Mughals. This henna pattern is inspired by the Persian art.
