ICW 2014: Kangana Ranaut Is Anju Modi’s Bride

On Day 2 of ICW 2014, we had two major collections going live. First, we saw a brilliant collection from Rina Dhaka that was presented at India Couture Week 2014. Then Anju Modi presented her bridal collection titled ‘Manikarnika'. Anju Modi's collection for ICW 2014 is a celebration of bridal attire. And to make matters grand, she used hand picked jewellery from Shree Rajmahal Jewellers to deck up her ‘brides'.

Anju Modi's collection made use of rich colours and golden hues. There was stress on using the dhoti as replacements for pants and churidars. Both male and female models wore dhotis under front open Indian silhouettes. Another striking feature of this collection was the use of asymmetrical hemlines. The rich silks and velvets used in this collection for the ICW 2014 justified the bridal theme.

There was a thrust on using solid colours like royal blue and ink blue shades. The reds, maroons, crimsons and golds were very rich in texture and the colours were literally ‘dense'. The perfect example of the density of colour in an outfit can be taken from the showstopper's ensemble. Kangana Ranaut walked the ramp of ICW 2014 in a black full-sleeved crop top and a lehenga of the same colour. The Anju Modi outfit that Kangana Ranaut wore had golden embroidery all over it.

Most of the embroidery in this collection, including Kangana's outfit looks like Kashmiri thread-work. The contrast of thick dark colours with bright gold embroidery was really striking. This eminent contrast gave the collection it USP. FOR MORE PICS
