Toga gowns are actually inspired from Greek style dresses. Toga was a loose fitting tunic worn by the Greeks and Romans. The toga dresses worn by women were single shouldered and often draped instead of stitched. This Greek style has given birth to a new kind of dress called the toga gown.

The toga gown is identified by a number of flaps and folds. It is often pleated or looks like it is held together by pins. The basic idea behind a toga dress is that it should look hemstitched and to be draped loosely. This type of gown is excellent for plus size women. This is because the numerous folds can easily tone down your fat. It gives you an illusion of being slim.
