From teenagers to middle-aged women, dry skin is one among the persistent problems we all suffer from. Here, we have mentioned about some of the best home remedies that help treat dry skin.

Dry skin can be a problem in all the seasons, but it may be really troublesome to take care of your skin during the winter days. The cold air sucks the moisture from the skin, which may lead to scaly skin, redness and inflammation on the skin as well.

Well, treating dry skin during the initial days is always good, as it will prevent the condition from getting worse. Well, if you are the one who is suffering from dry skin, try these easily available home remedies.

1. Papaya

Papaya is a wonderful ingredient that helps to work effectively on a dull and dry skin. Due to a high amount of Vitamin A present in the papaya, it helps to treat several skin ailments. Take a raw papaya and scrub your face with this. Do this regularly and massage in a circular direction. Continue for 10-15 minutes and wash off with cold water.

Due to a high amount of antioxidants and healthy fatty acids present in olive oil, it can prove to be extremely good on your dry skin. Using olive oil helps to soothe your skin and heals dry skin easily. Take some olive oil and heat it for some time. Now massage your face, hands and legswith this and leave it overnight. Wash off in the morning with lukewarm water. Repeat this remedy twice in a day to get rid of the dry and flaky skin.

Yogurt is another common home remedy that helps to deal with dull and dry skin easily. It helps to kill the bacteria and germs that generally lead to inflammation and redness on the skin. Take some yogurt and add one spoon of honey and one spoon of lemon to it. Mix all the ingredients together and massage your face and hands with this. Wash off with cold water after some time.

Coconut oil contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help to prevent dry and flaky skin. Due to a good amount of fatty acids present in the coconut oil, it helps to keep your skin smooth and soft. Take some coconut oil and heat it for some time. Now, massage your face and body with this and wash off after some time. Do this regularly before going to bed every day, as it helps to alleviate dry and flaky skin.

If you want to treat dry skin and keep your skin moisturized for a long period of time, use oatmeal. Due to the high content of proteins present in oatmeal, it works as a barrier on the skin. It helps to prevent water loss and keeps your skin moisturised and supple for a long period of time. Take one cup of oats and add some yogurt, honey, and lemon to it. Now, add half a mashed banana and mix all the ingredients together. Apply this on your face and body, and leave it for some time. Wash off with cold water and pat dry.

6. Petroleum Jelly

Mix equal quantity of petroleum jelly and glycerine together. Now, add 3 spoons of Vitamin E oil to it. Mix all the ingredients together and apply on the face. Massage for some time and wash off with water. Using petroleum jelly is an excellent remedy that can help to keep your skin hydrated and supple all the time.

7. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera gel is a one-stop home remedy for all those who are dealing with dry and flaky skin. Due to moisturising properties found in aloe vera gel, it helps to deal with extremely dull and dry skin. Take some aloe vera gel, add one spoon of lemon and a pinch of turmeric. Mix all the ingredients together and massage your face with this.

Sandalwood paste is extremely good to be used on dry and flaky skin. Take 2-3 spoons of sandalwood powder and add a few drops of rose water and lemon juice to it. Mix all the ingredients together and apply this on your face. Massage for sometime and when the face pack dries, wash off with cold water. This will help to treat dull, dry and flaky skin easily.
