Cleansing your face is one of the crucial steps that is required for an ever-glowing and beautiful-looking skin. You should cleanse your face thoroughly every day, which may look like a very easy task to do. All you need to do is take some face wash, wash your face, pat dry and you're done!

However, it is not that simple, since there are certain cleansing mistakes that most of us make, which we need to avoid at any cost. All of us have been adopting the method of cleansing and it is perfectly fine if you are doing it correctly. But if you are not, you are actually contaminating your skin rather than cleaning it.

So, check out few of the cleansing mistakes that you are probably making every day and avoid them as soon as possible!

1. Not Washing Your Hands

Everything is a waste if you are not washing your hands before cleansing your skin. You might be touching various things throughout the day and hence all the germs and bacteria accumulated in the hands ultimately get shifted to face. So, start washing your hands before washing your face.

2. Not Removing Makeup Before Cleansing

The main intention of cleaning the face is to unclog the pores and remove all the dirt and dust. Well, there is no point in cleansing the face directly, as it will not unclog the pores. You can use a gentle cleanser or wipes, to clean the face, and then cleanse the skin using a face wash or scrub. Make sure you use a cleanser that contains the extracts of jojoba oil, shea butter, grape seed extract, and such other natural ingredients.

3. Using Hot Water

You might be tempted to use hot water to wash your face with in the winter season, but avoid hot water as much as possible. Water can burst the capillaries on the face, which results in those sensitive and unusual red marks on the skin. Other than this, using hot water can lead to skin irritation and excessive dryness on the face. Also, washing face with hot water can result in excessive production of sebum on the face.

4. Avoid Frequent Exfoliating The Face

Grainy exfoliators are unnecessarily harsh, especially when used too often. Avoid using exfoliating harsh products on a frequent basis and opt for gentle exfoliators which should be used once or twice in a week. You should exfoliate your skin after regular intervals of time in order to remove dead cells from the face. For natural exfoliation, you can make use of sugar and honey. This can help to keep your skin nourished and moisturized for a longer period of time.

5. Rubbing With Towel

Rubbing the face with a towel is another big mistake a person makes. Rubbing can tug the skin and irritate it, causing redness and wrinkles easily. And hence, it is always said that you should pat your skin dry with a towel and not rub it. Our skin is delicate and hence you must pat it dry instead of rubbing it aggressively. Consider using a soft fabric towel for this process.

6. Not Moisturizing It

You should always seal the moisture in the skin by applying a moisturizer on the face. Applying a moisturizer on the skin acts like a shield which prevents your skin from being affected by external factors. Don't wait to give your skin a chance to dry out completely. By using a moisturiser with active ingredients in it, it will keep your skin soft and healthy.
