Gone are the days when men being particularly considerate about their skin were looked down upon. Now, men take pride on how they look, and invest time on their skin as well. And we absolutely love that! Here is a lemon face mask recipe for the gentlemen who like to keep the dirt off and face fresh!
What works for women's skin may not really work for men. First, men's skin tends to be 15% more oily than women. Furthermore, extensive exposure to outdoors and usage of razors, leaves their skin rough and hard.
Men's facial skin being thicker, it is not as sensitive to ingredients as women are. What they need is a strong exfoliator that can penetrate deep into the skin layer and clear the congested pores.
Which is why we have curated this herbal mask to remove dirt from skin. How does it work? It deep cleanses the skin, neutralises the free radicals, removes surface dirt and closes pores.
The main ingredient in this mask for men is lemon juice. It contains vitamin C that boosts collagen, citric acid that shrinks pores, potassium that hydrates the skin and lutein that fights against skin-damaging free radicals.
Here is the step-by-step method on how to remove skin impurities naturally.
Boil a cup of water, and add a tablespoon of green tea leaves to it. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the solution cool down. Green tea has a high ratio of antioxidants that kill acne-causing bacteria and prevent wrinkles.
Mash half-ripe tomato into fine pulp. Make sure there is no lump in the paste. Beta-carotene present in tomato removes skin tan and lightens blemishes.
Add a tablespoon of roughly grounded rice powder to the mask. The rough granules will help exfoliate the skin, removing the dead skin layers.
Add half a teaspoon of lemon juice to the mask. Using a fork, mix all ingredients together, until you have a slightly gritty paste.
Do facial steam before applying the skin-clearing face mask for men. It will open up the pores, and all the mask can then penetrate into the skin layers better.
Using a clean finger, apply a thin coat of the mask to your face and neck. Let the mask sit for 15 to 30 minutes.
Once your skin starts stretching, spritz some water onto your face and then scrub in a circular motion to remove the dirt embedded deep into the skin. Do this for 2 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water, followed by cold water rinse to close pores.
Pat dry your skin. Massage your skin with an oil-free moisturiser that suits your particular skin type.
- For the mask to penetrate better and really show the difference, clean shave your skin before.
- In case if you have an acne-prone skin, reduce the amount of lemon you use, as it can further irritate the skin.
- Men's skin being more oily than women, using soap may just work fine for your skin, but just make sure it is a moisturising soap in case if you tend to have dry skin.
