How do you know your facial skin is excessively dry? Sign one - you will experience a feeling of tightness on your skin after a shower.

Sign two - your facial skin is always rough, with slight to severe peeling. And sign three - your skin can easily crack and there will be an ashy shadow to it.

If you ticked off all the above symptoms, then you better pull up your sleeve, for your skin is desperately crying for help!

What you need to do immediately? Avoid hot water shower at any cost, use lukewarm water instead. Use mild cleanser that is gentle on the skin and not drying. Use face creams that are deeply emollient and do not have alcohol.

Avoid toxic chemicals in skin care products as much as possible. Other than that, here are some homemade face masks for super-dry skin that can make a difference !

Olive Oil

Olive oil contains antioxidants and fatty acids that heal and condition dry skin. Massage olive oil all over your face, let it sit overnight. By morning, you will have supple and smooth skin. You can also massage olive oil on your body to treat dry skin.

Honey

Honey contain amino acids that work as a natural humectant, helping the skin to retain its moisture. Massage it onto your skin, let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes and then rinse it with lukewarm water. Follow it up by rinsing your face with cold water.

Curd

Lactic acid in curd gently exfoliates the skin of its dry skin cells, in turn helping the skin to absorb oxygen and nutrients better. Plus, it deeply moisturises the skin and preserves its delicate pH balance.

Step 1:

curd

Take a teaspoon of curd in a bowl, slightly stir it with a fork for it to become light.

Step 2:

lemon

Add a teaspoon of honey and a few drops of lemon juice to the mixture and mix everything well. Apply it evenly to your face and neck.

Step 3:

facemask

Let the hydrating face mask sit for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Follow it up by massaging the skin with a light moisturiser. For best results, try this tip twice a week!
