Which is precisely why we curated this DIY skin-brightening mask. The main ingredients included in this herbal remedy for bright complexion are almond paste, milk, honey and turmeric.

Almond contains unsaturated fats and a healthy dose of vitamin E, which cleanses the pores of impurities, shrinks their size, stimulates blood flow, which in turn firms up the skin.

Milk, on the other hand, contains protein and lactic acid, which gently slough the skin of its dead skin layers, lightens blemishes and brightens the complexion.

Amino acid in honey acts as a natural humectant which helps the skin retain its moisture. Plus, it is packed with vitamin C, which repairs damaged skin cells and promotes regeneration of new skin tissues.

Turmeric is packed to the brim with antioxidants, which form a protective shield on the skin against the skin-damaging free radicals.

Now that you know precisely how this skin whitening mask works, let's get down to its recipe.

Step 1:

Soak 5 to 7 almonds in half a cup of water overnight. In the morning, grind it into a smooth paste. In case if the paste turns out too coarse, add a little milk to it.

Step 2:

Add 1 teaspoon of pure honey to the mask and using a fork, whisk it well, until all the ingredients blend well. You can up the honey content, if you have dull skin, as it is deeply moisturising and nourishing in nature, which gives the skin a dewy glow.

Step 3:

Add a pinch of turmeric to the fair skin mask and using a required amount of milk, stir the ingredients together into a smooth paste.

Step 4:

Cleanse your skin of the day's dirt by rinsing it with cold water. In case if you are wearing any makeup, cleanse it using a mild face wash. Pat it dry using a kitchen towel. Make sure your skin remains slightly damp for better application of the mask.

Step 5:

Apply a thin coat of the mask to your face and neck. Avoid the area around your eyes and neck. Let the mask sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 6:

Once dry, spritz some water on to your skin. Once the mask loosens, scrub in a circular motion, using the soft bud of your fingers. Do this for 2 to 5 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water, and follow it up by rinsing your face with cold water to close pores.

Step 7:

Massage your skin with a light moisturiser. Massage in a circular motion using upward strokes to let the nourishing properties of the cream seep deep into the skin layers.
