8 Ways To Treat Acne Naturally

What would you do if suddenly, your mirror points out hideous-looking acne spots on your face just before attending a party or a social gathering? You would freak out and panick. Right? Well, most of us have faced such skin problems and we, do panick at times. But, what exactly are the causes of acne ?

Acne is a common skin condition that happens when the skin pores are clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne appears mostly on face, chest, neck and back and is characterized by areas of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples etc.

It is said to be caused by a variety of factors like genetics (thought to be the cause in 80% of cases), hormonal activity (especially during menstrual cycles and puberty), medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome etc. bacteria-borne infections, imbalance in diet, smoking and stress.

Sometimes, we try to burst acnes but that might worsen the condition and lead to scars on the face. Creams containing harmful chemicals are not only expensive but are also harmful for our delicate skin.

But, we cannot let these deadly acnes play with our self – esteem as it might further lead to depression and anxiety. Therefore, certain natural remedies, as listed below can come to our rescue:

As per researches, 100% naturally-extracted Australian tea tree oil has miraculous healing effects on acne-affected areas.

Apply a facial acne mask containing a mixture of tea tree oil (4 drops) and egg white (1) on clean face and rinse well with luke warm water after keeping for about 15 minutes. Limit usage to once a week otherwise it could irritate and burn your skin.

Raw honey moisturizes the skin and also kills the bacteria that cause acne. Apply a mixture of raw honey (2 teaspoons) and fresh lemon juice (1 teaspoon) on your face by using your fingertips and gently massage. Once it dries, rinse your face with water and gently pat your skin dry.

It is a natural oil which moisturizes the skin thus, preventing excessive oil production and clogging of skin pores. Apply jojoba oil (5-6 drops) on a cotton ball and dab over your acne. Consultation with a dermatologist is recommended before using it.

Juniper oil is a natural antiseptic astringent which you can use as a facial cleanser and toner as it clears blocked pores and treats acne (though over usage should be avoided). Wash your face and apply 1-2 drops of the oil with a cotton ball.

Turmeric has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which help to heal the inflammation and pain caused by acne. Apply a paste containing a mixture of turmeric powder, yoghurt and honey as a face mask and leave it on for 30 minutes till it dries completely. Rinse it off with cold water to prevent acne.

Tomatoes, rich in vitamin A, C, K B and E have anti-oxidant qualities that can also help you fight your acne problem. Cut a tomato and smear the cut side on your face. Massage for a few seconds and then rinse off with warm water.

Eat foods rich in vitamin A, C, E and zinc like spinach, sweet potato, pumpkin, mangoes, grape fruit etc. which have anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce the severity of acne. Rehydrate yourself by drinking lots of water so as to prevent acne formation.
