DIY:Prepare Your Own Shampoo Using Baking Soda!
There are a wide range of shampoos available from leading brands and manufacturers. These shampoos contain various substances that give your hair a clean and well-kept look.
Commercially available shampoos are easy to use and are attractive to look at as well. What can go wrong, after all it's just a shampoo, isn't it?
As consumers, we often forget to ask ourselves, "are these commercially made shampoos safe for our hair?" If we carefully observe the ingredients used, then the answer is no.
Along with fragrances, harmful ingredients such as Parabens are used in the commercially made shampoos. Laureth Sulphate is just one of the other dangerous ingredients that popular shampoos contain.
A quick and safer solution is to make your own shampoo with baking soda.
When people think of baking soda, they think of delicious cakes. There are more uses of baking soda, some are well known, whereas other secrets are kept hidden from the world.
It is a lesser-known fact that baking soda can be used for cleaning your hair on a regular basis.
This safe and effective ingredient can also be used with a vinegar-based rinse. This will give your hair a powerful lustre and sheen.
Listed below is a guide on how you can use baking soda to get clean and pleasant-smelling hair within a few quick minutes.
How To Wash Your Hair Using Baking Soda
- For short hair, use 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 3 tablespoons of water. For shoulder-length hair, mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 6 tablespoons of water. Follow the formula, 1 part of baking soda and 3 parts of water, do not alter the ratio. Mix the solution in a squeezy bottle for convenience of use.
- Apply the solution to the roots of your hair and slowly move towards the tips. Let the solution stay on your hair for 2 minutes. Rinse hair with warm water that is not too hot to touch.
- Create a vinegar rinse with 1 part of white vinegar and 4 parts of water. You can add a few drops of lavender essential oil to the mix, this is optional however. Keep your eyes closed, tilt your head backwards and apply this mixture on to your hair. Rinse the hair with cold water in less than 20 seconds.
- The vinegar rinse should be used after the baking soda shampoo procedure. The baking soda shampoo should be made fresh whenever you plan to use it. If you want to, then you can make large batches of the vinegar rinse, store in a squeezy bottle and use when needed. Other fragrances that you can use include peppermint and rosemary. Ensure that you only use essential oils and not any other type of a fragrance.
