The early 20s are the best times for the skin. And with good reason, all the embarrassing acne of the teenage years and oiliness is gone, and the skin is still young. So in our early twenties we can get away with almost anything in terms of skincare. The early twenties actually involve a lot of rule breaking in terms of skincare. There are late nights, drinking too much, forgetting makeup removal, binge eating and not eating enough nutritional food.
They say the first signs of aging start to appear around the mid-twenties, that is when we turn 25. With a little bit of care during our twenties, that can be delayed. But alas, most of us are really careless with skincare in the early years of the second decade of our lives.
After 25, it is absolutely impossible to end up with great skin without having to spend at least a little bit of time on it. Yes, with a little bit of time spent everyday, the aging process can be actually slowed down. Here a few rules you must follow after 25.
Remove makeup- Although this is one of the most basic skincare tips, most of us are guilty of avoiding or skipping this step a lot. After 25, you have to be very strict with yourself and ensure that you remove all traces of old makeup before bed.
Under-eye cream- Yes, you have avoided investing in a separate product for the under-eye area, since a long time, but it is finally time for you to just go and buy that eye cream. Trust us, starting now, would save you from a lot of hassle later on in life.
Cleanser- By now, you should be aware of your skin, and buy products according to the skin type. There will be no more trying and testing of formulations in terms of facial cleansers. Gentle, medicated ones always work best.
Toning- Using a toner actually shrinks pores and tightens the skin after washing. It also restores the natural pH level of the skin. If you do not have a fancy toner at hand, you can use good old rose water.
Avoid touching- Avoid touching the face too much, as your face has delicate skin and the fingers carry a lot of oil and dirt. This could lead to break outs. Another mistake we make is rubbing at the skin too much, which could lead to the skin getting stretched out and hence make signs of aging appear before it's time.
Facials- Make time and go for facials once a week. If you don't have that much time, you could go once a month. But start pampering and caring for your skin, early on to avoid wrinkles for longer.
Moisturise- Since the first signs of aging appear in the form of dehydration of the skin. Dry skin types actually age faster than oilier skins. So, in order to retain moisture in our skins, we need to find a moisturiser best suited for our skins.
