Winter Skin Problems To Avoid
Men no longer are outcast when it comes to skin care. Today's men take pride and care in having a glowing and good looking skin. On set of winter brings its own set of skin care problems. Men have to take extra care during winter when wind is dry and cold resulting in dry flaky skin. Due to lack of moisture in your skin, you get white itchy patches on your face and other parts of your body.
You have to make sure your body retains moisture by applying moisturising lotions. Prefer to go with formulas made for men in particular as men skin is harder than that of women. Hence applying moisturising cream or lotion meant for women will have less effect. Then again you have to choose two different lotions meant for your facial area and rest of the body. This is because skin is different on your face compared to rest of your body.
Don't be ashamed to apply some moisturising balm onto your lips every now and then to keep it moist and soft. You don't expect women to fall for your flaky lips that are full of cracks! You have to apply some moisturising formula at night meant to keep your skin from drying at night due to cold. One of the most basic thing we forget in winter is keeping ourselves hydrated due to cold. This results in lots of skin problems.
Acne
Men suffering from acne must take extra care during winter as the problem gets worse due to dry and cold weather. Due to dryness, the oil glands tend to produce more oil resulting in breakouts.
Flaky skin
Cold weather tends to dry your skin faster resulting in flaky and itchy skin patches. It is important you keep yourself hydrated and exfoliate regularly to clean out dead skin.
Chapped lips
During winter your lips take a lot of battering due to dry cold weather resulting in chapped lips. Don't be shy or embarrassed to use some moisturising lip balms to beat the problem.
Hands
Our hands have soft and thin skin on the back side of it. Dry and cold weather make your skin on hands to crack and form wrinkles. It is important you keep it moist and wear gloves.
Sun screen
Winter isn't the time to cold store your SPF lotions. You can switch to lower SPF lotions to protect yourself from sun damages that alleviates due to dry and cold weather.
Avoid steam baths
It feels great to get cozy in hot steamy bath tub or shower till you realise the kind of damage it does to your already dry and cold skin. Use mild to lukewarm water to retain moisture.
Knee and elbow
These parts need extra care in winter as they are hard and wrinkly already. Use products containing Shea butter, petrolatum, mineral oil, tea tree oil or glycerine to keep it moist and soft.
Feet care
During winter your feet dries a lot faster resulting in cracked heels. This gets rather painful when neglected for long time. Apply thick moisturiser and always keep it covered using socks.
Scalp
Scalp care is not always related to hair care. Winter brings in a lot of dry scalp problems resulting in dandruff and itchy scalp. Use moisturising conditioner to keep your scalp from over drying.
Hydration
Don't ignore drinking adequate water just because its winter and make you pee irritatingly often. Even though you don't perspire during winter, your skin and body need a lot of hydration. Hence make sure you drink water to keep it soft and supple during winter.
