Salt Scrub Recipes For Dry Skin

Salt is a great ingredient to make some simple and highly effective homemade scrubs. It specially helps during winter when your skin gets dry quite often and accumulates dead skin.

You can get rid of your patchy and scaly dry skin using some herbal and natural scrubs made of salt and other easily available ingredients that are at your disposal at home. It can be done any time when you are free and costs lot less than going to parlours.

These do it yourself natural scrubs help rejuvenate the skin and aid in growth of fresh skin by making way. It not only removes dry and dead skin, salt scrubs aid in removing dirt and toxins accumulated on skin.

Salt Scrub Recipes For Dry Skin

It helps to scrub out dirt which might blocking pores and give your skin a new glow. As our skin sheds and grows constantly, removing layers of dead skin unblocks paths for new skin to grow.

Some of these homemade salt scrubs have naturally moisturising ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil etc, that help in keeping your skin hydrated after removing layers of dry skin. Apart from that, most of these ingredients being natural help in providing nutritional values to your skin.

The new skin gets to absorb the nutrients from the ingredients such as almond oil, herbs, oatmeal, grapeseed etc.

Herbal sea salt scrub
Ingredients:
a.1 large handful of dried herb (Any)
b.2-3 Tablespoons of sea salt
c.½ teaspoon olive oil (or coconut oil)
d.about 4 Tablespoons of water
Put one large handful of your herb of choice into a mortar and grind it into a powder with the pestle. Add the sea salt, and grind a bit more. Add the water and stir. Finally add the olive oil. This makes enough for one treatment.

Simple salt scrub
Ingredients:

a.Salt of choice
b.Oil of choice (olive, coconut etc.)
c.Scent
Choose between sea salt, epsom salt, kosher salt or old table salt. Usually table salt is the cheapest, and it has smaller granules. Mix it with oil of your choice that suits your skin type and available to you in a jar. Oils like olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, sesame oil etc are good on skin. Add a few drops of scent you have chosen like extracts of lavender, peppermint, orange etc. and mix well. Apply it to rough areas like knee and elbow during or after shower when your skin is moist and soft.

Dead sea salt scrub
Ingredients:

a.4 oz coconut oil
b.1 oz Shea butter
c.3 oz liquid oil of your choice (almond, castor, jojoba, olive...)
d.1/3 oz beeswax
e.16 oz sea salt
f.1/2 tsp essential oil of choice (optional)
Mix all but the sea salt and the essential oil in a glass container that is large enough to hold it. Using a double boiler, melt those ingredients. Remove from heat and stir in the essential oils and then the salt.

Oatmeal & Patchouli Sea Salt Scrub
Ingredients:

a.Sea salt (2 cups)
b.Oatmeal, ground and uncooked (1/2 cup)
c.Grapeseed oil (1/2 cup)
d.Olive oil (1/2 cup)
e.Patchouli essential oil (5-10 drops)
Put salt in a clean, dry bowl, add oils and mix with a spoon. Add drops of patchouli and mix well. Store in glass jar and use as a soothing, relaxing all-over body exfoliate.
