Your skin becomes dry during winter. And applying winter creams makes your skin looks oily and greased. The reason is simple! Winter creams are meant to moisturise the skin and prevents it from drying. As winter is a dry season, you have to care for your skin to prevent it from looking dry.

People with oily skin find it difficult to get rid of those greasy and oily layer from their face even during winter. That is why they avoid winter creams. However, avoiding creams make the skin look dry and dull. There are many winter creams in the market that guarantees an oil-free skin. However, everything fails. So, here are few natural home remedies to avoid oily skin during winters.

Home remedies to avoid oily skin in winter:

Milk massage: Cleaning the face with milk not only removes dirt and dead skin but, it also helps moisturise your skin. After coming from outside, make sure you cleanse your face. Wash off with water and pat dry. You can also massage with milk few minutes before going out. Wash off with water and a mild face wash to avoid the shiny and oily skin. Applying cleansing milk regularly moisturises your skin naturally.

Avoid using hot water on face: Hot water not only open up the skin pores but also secretes a lot of oil from the glands. To avoid getting an oily skin in winters, always wash your face with cold water. Cold water closes the skin pores thus reducing the chances of pimple or acne breakout. You can use lukewarm water to fight the chilling cold.

Tomato massage: The juice of tomato removes excessive oil from your skin. If you have an oily skin, you can add few drops of lemon juice to the tomato juice and massage gently on your face. Lemon juice removes extra oil, dirt, dead skin and also exfoliates the skin. Wash your face with cold water. This is one effective way to avoid getting oily skin in winters. However, lemon can dry your skin so follow up with a sunscreen (if going out) or moisturiser.

Exfoliate: To avoid oily skin, you need to exfoilate the skin at least 2 times a week (depending on the skin). There are many scrubs that works great with people having oily skin. Applying an oatmeal or almond based scrub is one of the natural home remedies to avoid oily skin in winter. Wash your face with water and then apply this scrub. Massage for 1-2 minutes so that the dead skin cells, blackheads, whiteheads and extra oil comes out from the skin. Wash with cold water to get a clear skin.
