By Madhu Babu

It is a great feeling for any man to get a perfect shave. It gives you a great feeling and immensely boosts your confidence. Be it for a important meeting or an important date you need to look sharp and smooth to have a lasting gentleman impression. Not all women like stubble, some even find it irritating and offensive for their men to come on a date unshaven. Many women find hard skin that is smooth and stubble free a turn on.

To get a gentleman like shave each time you pick up the razor, you have to do some prep work before you put the razor to work. Don't be fooled my multiple blades that are marketed with misleading information or gels and creams that are said to give closer shaves. There are techniques that are laid out for a perfect shave well before these grooming stuff were invented. The most important part being how well you lather and moisten your stubble before you start using the blade.

Tips To Shave Like A Gentleman

  • Prep work before shave involves moistening your beard well before you do any work on it. Moist hair on your face absorbs more cream and creates more lather than dry hair. Secondly, use a good quality cream with higher concentrate of lubricants that create creamier lather. Make sure your razor is sharp before you put it work. When shaving part is done, it is important to pamper your battered skin with aftershave and moisturiser.
  • It is important to start with moistening your stubble well before you start any work on it. When your facial hair is well moistened, it becomes soft and weak, making it easier to work on. Prefer a shower before shaving or a cleansing face wash using warm water.
  • Always prefer quality creams and gels. Low grade materials don't lather as much as required to give you a clean shave. When there is good concentrate of lubricants in the gel or cream, you get soft foamy lather that blends well with your facial hair to give you a closer shave.
  • When it comes to shaving brush, it is important to choose the right one that is flexible and soft. A good quality brush helps in creating the perfect lather consistency that is required for a gentleman like shave. Choose brushes with right amount of softness and strength.
  • Razor is the most critical tool that makes or breaks the perfect gentleman shave. You have to choose a quality razor that comes with sharp blades to get smooth shave. Other most important aspect of blades is making sure they are sharp. Never use blunt blades as they result in lots of damage to skin.
  • Using razor in a proper way comes with practice. There is no definite way to use it, just make sure you observe the strokes that work best on your skin and face. Use short strokes that are not longer than 1-2 inch. Use warm water to cleanse the blades that help in smooth shave.
  • Once the razor part is over, it is time to work on your battered skin. No matter how careful or how much prep work you do, there will be small amount of cuts and bruises that may not be visible to naked eye. Use concentration of tea tree oil or other antiseptic after the shave.
  • Pamper your skin after the shave is very important. You would have virtually shaven out a layer or two of your skin during the shave. Hence you are now working on new skin that needs to be moisturised with a quality skin moisturiser and after shave balm.
