Maintaining moustaches is however equally challenging and yours truly has given up on keeping one because of the efforts involved!

Remember, one wrong turn of your scissors or a deviation of your favourite moustache trimmer's direction may set the clock back by a fortnight. Utmost care, a pair of scissors, some water, a comb, an optional hair trimmer, a mirror and of course a lot of light makes up the war chest to shape your moustache perfectly.

Steps To Shape Your Moustache

How you shape your moustache depends on how your facial hair growth and of course on the type of moustache you need. If it is the first time for you then growing a full moustache is good to start with. Here are a few steps to make a perfect moustache to impress everyone from your boss to your prospective father-in-law.

Moisten up: Moistening up wets your facial hair, making it soft and more obedient to your scissor! Comb down to give direction! While shaping that perfect moustache, you need to define the extents of your moustache. Moustaches look well groomed when they grow down, hence it is best to comb down your moustache before you start trimming them.

Limiting the borders: A barber's scissor may be used to minutely limit the hair length above your upper lip. You may then trim the other edges of your moustache below the nose and on the sides of your lips. This gives the desired shape for your moustache. The advice of course is to stagger your cuts into steps of microns to prevent an accidental trim!

Trim the bulk: Once the moustache knows its shape, you may then start removing that extra growth. Usually done with a pair of grooming scissors, a moustache trimmer adjusted so it gives the smoothest cut may also be employed to trim that extra growth. A thorough survey and planning on the final shape and length of your growth before you start trimming however always helps.

Movement of trimmer or scissor: Trimming a moustache is really an art. While trimming the bulk, the scissor should always move from the middle to the edges of your moustache while your moustache trimmer should cut from your nose down to your lips. This will ensure you have the perfect moustache shape.

Right from the panwallahs in the Indian gali to the movie actor sporting the fake one; this coveted growth adorning the upper lips has defined the character and added confidence to many. It is equally important hence to shape this moustache perfectly so it may compliment the baritone of your voice and also enhance your masculinity!
