We have all made makeup mistakes in the past. In fact, that is how most of us learn. None of us are born experts on makeup. There are certain makeup mistakes you must avoid at all costs.
These mistakes can make you look more made up than you intend to look. In fact, with the right kind of makeup, you can look like you haven't put much of an effort into the look at all.
These tips that we've shared would help you avoid looking too fake. And, not to worry, we all have been culprits of some or the other makeup mistakes in the past as well.
They are all made in an attempt to make ourselves look nicer, but obviously they fail and thus we end up looking a lot worse than we intended.
Sometimes the mistake is in the lighting and sometimes it's in the makeup itself. So, here's how you can ensure you never repeat those mistakes ever again.
Have a look at these tips and do let us know what you think of them in the comments section below!
1. Foundation Shade:
One mistake that we are sure that EVERYONE has made is picking the wrong foundation. Some people, in an attempt to look fairer than they are, end up picking a foundation lighter than their skin tone. Please stick to a foundation shade that is closest to your skin tone to make it look really natural.
Apply your concealer in an upside down triangle shape under the eye, rather than a crescent moon shape. This ensures the concealer looks well blended with the rest of the face.
A lot of girls think over-lining their lips can make their lips look fuller. Now, there's nothing wrong with doing this, but you need to make sure you do it the right way and don't go over the top when doing it.
Don't draw a line that is too thick and don't draw an overdramatic wing. The makeup needs to be subtle to accentuate your features.
Again, try to keep it as natural as possible. Don't draw too much of a heavy arch. In fact, just follow along the shape of your natural brows.
Don't sweep blush on with heavy hands. This can look a little cartoon like. Light sweeps are what you want. Sweep the blush only on the apples of your cheeks for a very natural-looking flush.
We have seen way too many people using too much bronzer and that too even on their cheeks. Never use bronzer on your cheeks. It screams out wannabe tan. Instead, use bronzer underneath your cheekbones for a chiseled look.
For highlighting, go for a shade that is only two shades lighter than your actual skin tone. Otherwise, it can look too made up.
In order to avoid clumps in your mascara, warm it up slightly by rubbing the bottle along your palms.
10. Too Much Powder:
Too much powder after finishing your makeup can make your face look too caked up. Instead, take a blush brush and lightly dust the powder on your face.
11. Not Using Lip Balm:
Always use a lip balm before you apply lipstick. Just remove the lip balm with your hands, right before you apply the lipstick. This ensures that the lipstick does not settle on to the cracks of your lips.
12. Staining The Teeth:
Careless application of lipstick can get the colour to stain your teeth. The first step to this is to make sure you buy good brands, and secondly, don't apply the lipstick too close to the inside of the mouth area.
