Is Red The New Colour For Makeup?
The headline itself proclaims that red makeup is back in the fashion scene and it is here to stay. Now you could contradict by saying that red lipstick and red nail polish has always been a bold style statement. But we beg to differ. 5 years back, if you wear seen wearing red makeup, you would be called loud.
For quite some time, white, beige and brown were dominant makeup colours. White, enamel and a shinny transparent sheath were the nail colours that were considered fashionable. That is why, if you wore red nail polish, you would be considered bitchy. When it came to lip colours, brown, transparent and peach were really popular. Red lipstick was for vamps and item girls.
The stars of red makeup have revived and it is none other than our favourite celebrities who are leading the way. We all take tips from celebrity makeup styles. So, it is becoming very hard to ignore the fact that too many stars are wearing red lipstick and nail polish these days. In fact red seems like the only makeup colour that is used by the celebrities these days. Red was earlier considered a colour for young women but now there is no age bar. Even mature celebrities are painting the town red.
Here are some of the most prominent celebrities who were seen wearing red makeup.
The Red Riding Hood Of B'Town
It would be fair to say that Kareena Kapoor has been the champion of red makeup in Bollywood. She shows us that red lips and nails look super hot with a white dress.
Arch Reds
We come from Bebo to her arch rival Priyanka who has donned a lovely plum shade of red. Piggy Chops prefers lighted lip colours but the trend has caught on to her.
Plum Again
Looks like Priyanka and Kareena are taking makeup tips from each other these days. Kareena is seen wearing the exact same shade of red lip stick a few days later.
Angelina Jolie's Red Lips
That could be a new twitter trend because Angelina Jolie is famous for her bold red lips. The black dress is totally set off by her pout lips and vibrant red lipstick.
Dusky Red
Who says that red lipstick looks good only on fair people? The dusky beauty Deepika Padukone has proved that red is a colour for all complexions.
Indian Red
Red has always been the colour for traditional clothes. So if you are going desi this season, choose red makeup without any second thoughts.
The Tall Red Doll
Another unlikely contender for red makeup is Sonam Kapoor. We already know that this leggie actress prefers beige and browns when it comes to makeup. But you just can't ignore red anymore!
A Classy Red
Red is no longer a young woman's colour. That is why the ever elegant and ageless Madhuri Dixit chose to wear red lipstick and paint her nails a bright red with this beige gown.
Golden And Red
Red is certainly not Katrina Kaif's favourite colour. But she has chosen to wear red lipstick with a not-so-matching golden dress. And it is not looking bad at all.
Vampire Red
Anushka Sharma shows us that red lips and nails can look good on light neutral colours too. So if you don't want to go over the top with your look, wear red makeup with light coloured clothes.
