10 Ayurvedic Tips For Healthy Hair
These ayurvedic tips would help to pamper your hair to the fullest and aid in giving you healthy and lustrous tresses.
We rarely take care of our hair. Most of the times, we ignore it, or we don't have a chance to take care of it. We are always changing shampoos and conditioners, depending on whatever is available. Doing this harms the state of your precious hair to a major extent.
When you move your fingers through your hair, do a few strands come on to your hand? Does your hair look lifeless?
Ayurveda is the best way to keep your hair healthy and luscious. Since Ayurveda makes use of only natural ingredients, it has no side effect on your hair. That is because Ayurveda takes into consideration the dosha you belong to and only then gives remedies.
Shikakai is one of the most loved natural Ayurvedic hair shampoos that would work best on any type of hair.
Now, have a look at these 10 Ayurvedic tips for healthy hair.
1. Consume A Calcium, Iron, And Protein-rich Diet
These three nutrients are required for maintaining the strength of the hair. Protein forms the base, while iron and calcium provide nourishment to the roots.
2. Avoid Harsh Shampoo
These store-bought shampoos and conditioners contain nothing but chemicals, which will spoil your hair in the long run. Instead, use Ayurvedic shampoos such as Shikakai, Amalaki, etc. Use fresh aloe gel as a conditioner. These natural products will also balance the hair pH level and nourish your hair from its roots to the tips.
3. Oil Your Hair At Least Thrice A Week
Choose the oil which is local to where you stay. For example, if you are from South India, go for coconut oil. If you are confused with which oil to choose, coconut oil is the best one, as it contains antioxidants and is rich in fat-soluble vitamins. You can also make hibiscus oil by adding hibiscus flower in some coconut water and heating it.
4. Practice Yoga To Reduce Stress
One of the major reasons for hair fall and dry hair is stress. We have a busy lifestyle and getting some alone time is difficult. Devote 10 minutes of your day to yoga. You don't need to do any difficult poses; meditation would be enough.
5. Use Amla Powder As A Natural Dye
Mix equal quantities of amla powder and water and keep it aside for 15 minutes. Make sure the mixture isn't lumpy. Apply it on your hair and leave for 30 minutes. Amla powder not only gives a natural brown colour to the hair but also tackles dandruff or any other fungal or bacterial infection.
6. Buy Henna From An Ayurvedic Store Only
There are many stores selling henna and claim it to be 100% natural, but it isn't. Always buy henna from an Ayurvedic store, so that you are assured of its herbal nature, which would be safe for you to use.
7. Neem Water To Tackle Dandruff
Boil a handful of neem leaves in 2 cups of water and strain it once the liquid is cool. Store it in a glass jug in the refrigerator and use it as a conditioner after hair wash. Do it thrice a week for best results.
8. Make Your Own Shampoo
Buy ritha from any Ayurvedic store and soak it in 2 cups of water overnight. Boil these soap nuts in the same water, the next morning, for 15 minutes. Once it is lukewarm, pour a little on your hair and massage for 5 minutes. Rinse and repeat the process. Store the extra in the refrigerator.
9. Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha powder is available in the market. Mix a little with honey and consume it. It helps in making the hair shiny and silky.
10. Yogurt
Whip some yogurt and apply it on your hair, from the roots to its tips, and leave for half an hour before rinsing. It will make your hair soft and shiny. Repeat this ayurvedic tip twice in a week for best results.
