Ingredients included in this herbal mask for grey hair include coconut oil, curry leaves, onion juice, garlic and lemon oil.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid that strengthens the hair strands, nourishes hair scalp and promotes the regeneration of new hair follicles.
Onion contains chock-full of sulphur that stimulates blood flow, helps hair absorb nourishment, which in turn improves hair growth.
Garlic contains copper that can reverse signs the of greying hair and structural compound of keratin, a protein that nourishes hair shaft!
Curry leaves, on the other hand, contain amino acids, which help the hair grow, and bring about a drastic difference in hair fall. And lemon oil has a high ratio of vitamin C, which adds shine, bounce and volume to limp hair.
Here is how you can reduce hair loss naturally and prevent grey hair using this hair mask.
Peel, dice and grate 1 big onion, extract its juice and keep it separately. Make sure to strain the juice, so that there are no lumps present and it can easily blend with other ingredients.
Take a pan, and set the stove in medium flame. Add half a cup of coconut oil to it and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Coconut oil is better than any other oil, as its molecular weight is similar to the natural oil found in your hair, helping it absorb easily, without weighing down your hair.
Peel 4 to 5 garlic pods and add it to the oil. Let it simmer for another 10 minutes, until the garlic colour changes to brown. Later, turn off the flame. Strain the oil and keep it separately. Other than reducing grey hair, garlic has anti-microbial properties that cleanse your scalp, keeping dandruff in check.
Take a handful of curry leaves and put it out under the sun to dry until it turns into crisp dry brown. Grind the leaves into fine powder. Add 1 teaspoon of curry leaves powder to the already garlic-infused oil. Later, add the onion juice and using a fork, stir until it all incorporates well.
To mask the pungent smell, add 4 to 5 drops of lemon oil. Transfer the oil into an air-tight container and let it hibernate for 24 hours.
Comb your hair to remove all tangles. Hold your hair mid-length and then run the comb through the end to reduce breakage. Once you have removed knots from the base of your hair, proceed to comb your hair starting from the scalp.
Divide your hair in 4 to 5 sections. And then apply the mask, starting from the root working your way down. Make sure your hair is thoroughly doused in the hair mask for grey hair.
Let your hair absorb the therapeutic properties of the onion mask for hair growth, overnight. In the morning, shampoo and condition as usual. Make sure to thoroughly rinse out every last residue of the mask from your hair.
Gently squeeze out the excess water from your hair. Later, blot dry the moisture using an old t-shirt. It will keep your hair from getting frizzy and reduce breakage. Never rub your scalp with a towel harshly. Your hair is at its weakest state when wet.
Before using a blow dry, apply a heat-protecting serum. Keep blow dryer at least 6 inches away from your hair and run it from root to tip. Never blast the air in one place for too long, as it will make your hair super dry. And keep the heat setting in low.
This hair mask for grey hair can bring about a noticeable difference in hair growth and reduction of white hair. However, for optimum benefit, we suggest you combine it with fiber-rich food and ample amount of water.
