If someone walked up to you and claimed that you have been washing your hair the wrong way and that's why your hair tends to get damaged, would you believe it?
It might be hard for you to take it seriously because washing your hair is a part of your routine and you have been doing it for years now, so how can you possibly go wrong?
However, did you know that there are some rules that you'll need to follow while washing your hair?
Most of us do not realize this and go on with our hair wash routines, without giving it much thought. This may result in hair damage to a great extent.
Split ends, dryness, frizziness, hair fall, etc, are symptoms of hair damage that can be corrected if drastic steps, to change your habits, are taken.
If one continues to ignore certain habits that are leading to their hair damage, then it may be hard to get back healthy hair.
There are so many rules and tips out there that help us to attain thick and lustrous hair. Today, Boldsky has a made a list of habits that can be avoided while washing your hair to reduce further damage.
Have a look at the common shower habits, which you need to avoid to prevent further damage to your hair.
Habit #1
Ensure that your hair is wet enough before using a shampoo. This helps create more lather and also allows the shampoo to reach the scalp and cleanse your roots and hair effectively.
Habit #2
It is always best to dilute the shampoo before use, as most shampoos contain a high concentration of chemicals that may damage your hair. Hence, add some water to the shampoo before use to eliminate this problem.
Habit #3
Make sure that the shampoo and conditioner that you use are suitable for your hair type. Not all products work well on all hair types. For example, if you have dry hair, buy products specifically designed for dry hair.
Habit #4
Avoid the application of a conditioner on your scalp. Conditioners must be used just on the hair, concentrating more on the tips. Using them on the scalp may give you an oily feeling and lead to dandruff issues.
Habit #5
Avoid washing your hair on a daily basis, as this habit may result in damaging your hair follicles, leading to hair fall. Washing your hair about twice or thrice in a week is the ideal thing to do.
Habit #6
Do not use too much of shampoo or conditioner, especially if it is chemical based. The high amount of chemicals present in them can damage your hair. Using just about the right amount of products is a good idea.
Habit #7
Avoid washing your hair with hot water. Doing this may make your hair brittle and dry, as hot water can kill the healthy hair cells. Lukewarm water can be used to wash your hair.
Habit #8
Ensure that you completely wash off the shampoo and conditioner from your hair. If the residue from these products remain in your hair, it could lead to dandruff, oiliness and hair fall issues.
Habit #9
Be gentle while you're towel drying your hair after wash. Rubbing your hair roughly with a towel may damage the hair follicles and cause unnecessary hair fall.
Habit #10
Avoid brushing your hair when it is still wet. Wet hair tends to be more fragile and can easily be snagged off. So, brushing wet hair can cause a lot of damage.
