Let's just admit it, dealing with thick, curly locks is much harder than taking care of straight, silky hair that is easy to manage!
Curly hair comes with its own set of problems that can take away a lot of time from your day.
Dealing with the constant frizziness, the unmanageable locks, numerous knots, hair sticking out in every direction possible making you look unkempt - all these may sound too familiar if you have curly hair.
Curly hair can also prevent a person from experimenting with different hairstyles, as it can be very hard to maintain a trendy new haircut on a daily basis, if your hair is curly.
Many people with curly hair tend to get so exasperated after spending so much time and effort on trying to make their tresses look presentable that they opt for heat straightening or chemical straightening services to take a break from their wild curls.
However, regularly straightening your hair with chemicals or heating devices can do a lot of damage, leading to hair fall, dryness and split ends.
So, it is always better to accept your curly locks for what they are. Here are a few simple tips to help you manage your curly hair. Do have a look and breathe easy!
Use a wide-toothed comb to brush your hair, instead of using a hair brush. This helps in making the de-tangling process easier and reduces hair breakage.
While brushing your hair, go from the bottom to top, that is, start brushing at the tips first and move upwards, as there are a lot of knots present at the tips.
When you condition your hair, apply the conditioner, put on a shower cap and let the hot water run. Leave it on for a few minutes. The steam from the hot water will help your hair to absorb the conditioner effectively.
You can comb your hair right after you apply the conditioner, while you are in the shower, then wash off the conditioner. Doing this will reduce frizziness after your hair dries.
Try not to wash off the conditioner completely from your hair, as curly hair requires more moisture; and leaving in a bit of conditioner residue helps in this case.
Mix a bit of your daily moisturiser with some leave-in conditioner and apply it on to your hair, after washing, to eliminate frizziness and give more definition to your curls.
If you are going on a run or hitting the gym before a shower, apply some deep conditioner on to your hair and tie it into a bun. The sweat and heat produced in your body will help in the better absorption of the conditioner, making your curls more manageable.
