Split ends, dry hair, hair fall, greasy scalp, and dandruff - At any given point, we tick at least 2 out of these 5 standard hair problems. There is no such thing as no hair issues.
What if we say, there is a hair mask that can take care of them all. No toxic chemicals, no big bucks, not hitches. Just a main ingredient! One spice in particular is proven to work magic on hair - cinnamon.
Here is how cinnamon works. It contains a compound called choline that moisturizes the scalp, Vitamin E that generates new skin cells, beta-carotene that curbs hair loss, Vitamin B2 that stimulates blood circulation, improving hair growth, Vitamin PP (niacin) that adds natural shine and lustre to the hair, and, of course, folic acid that forms a protective shield against the damaging free radicals.
Other ingredients included in this cinnamon mask for hair growth are egg, olive oil and honey. Honey is a natural humectant that gives the locks their silky texture.
Olive oil is packed with antioxidants, and it helps restore the pH balance of the scalp and promotes regeneration of new hair follicles. Egg, on the other hand, is packed to the brim with proteins. These proteins improve the collagen count of the hair strands, improving elasticity and adding keratin and thereby smoothness to the hair.
Now, that you know precisely how this hair mask works, let's get down to the recipe.
Take a bowl, divide egg yolk from the white. Take the white, and using a fork, keep whisking it until you get a fluffy consistency!
Take a pan, set it on low flame. Add 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil and let it heat for a minute. Turn off the heat, and allow the oil to cool until it becomes lukewarm.
Add a tablespoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder to the oil. Using a fork, stir it until the ingredients blend well, and the mixture should turn mud brown or black in colour. In the end, add egg white.
Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to remove all tangles.
Divide your hair in four to five sections. Dip a brush into the mask and start lathering up your hair with it, starting from the scalp, working your way down. Keep doing it until your scalp and hair are thoroughly saturated with the hair mask.
Let the mask sit for 15 minutes. Then, shampoo and condition as usual.
Tweak the content to suffice your hair length and thickness. You can keep the mask for longer for better nourishment. Apply this herbal hair mask once a week for best results.
Note - To make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients mentioned above, make sure to patch test it first in the small patch of your skin.
