Between toxic chemical-based products, harsh weather and scalding heating tools, is it really a wonder your hair has started to feel rough, dry and damaged? What you need is nourishment, and we can think of no better way than - avocado hair mask.
How does this hair mask work? It penetrates deep into the hair follicles, repairs dry hair, seals cuticles, promotes healthy scalp and accelerates the production of new hair follicles.
Ingredients included in this DIY deep-conditioning hair mask are avocado, egg, honey and olive oil.
Avocado contains vitamins A, D and E that lock in moisture in the hair cells, strengthen hair roots and stimulate growth. Egg, on the other hand, is rich in sulphur and lecithin that increase hair volume and keep the scalp healthy.
To top it off, egg is packed to the brim with vitamin B12 and protein that make your locks super-silky and shiny.
The last ingredient in this mask is honey. Honey is a rich source of amino acids that lock in the moisture, tame the frizz and make your hair shaft more flexible.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make your hair silky naturally.
Take half an avocado, peel and dice it into small pieces. Add it to the blender and give it a good whisk, until it forms into a smooth paste.
Next, separate 1 egg yolk from the white. Beat the egg yolk until you get a frothy liquid. Combine the whisked egg with the mashed avocado and mix it well. Make sure it has no lumps.
Add a tablespoon of honey to the mixture; and using a fork, stir it well. By now you should have a smooth, lump-free fine paste.
For added nourishment, you can also add 5 drops of almond oil to the mask. Almond oil is rich in vitamin E that nourishes dry hair, treating split ends.
Using a wide-toothed comb remove all tangles from your hair. Divide your hair in small sections and then comb to avoid breakage. Exert as little pressure as possible.
Apply the mask to your hair. Starting from the root, work your way to the hair length. Your hair should be thoroughly covered in the mask.
Tie your hair in a loose bun, and cover it with a shower cap. Let the avocado mask for hair fall stay for 45 minutes. Later, shampoo and condition your hair as usual.
Gently squeeze the water out of your hair. Wrap it with an old t-shirt to remove excess moisture and keep it frizz-free. Later, remove the head wrap, and let your hair air-dry naturally.
Try this avocado mask, once a week, and you will notice your hair become visibly smooth, silky and strong.
