Dry and cracked heels have been one of the common issues for everyone, which is mostly caused after the skin loses its moisture.
Besides the hydration issue, several environmental factors, prolonged exposure to the sun or water or using harsh soaps can lead to cracked feet.

When the skin of the feet dries out, it can lead to painful cracks and for most of them, they even experience blood oozing out.
The openings on the skin allow the bacteria to breathe in, thus leading to a worsened condition. Cracking and peeling of the skin on feet is known to cause heel fissures, which can be treated by a few simple remedies. These are listed below, take a look.
1. Soak Feet In Lemon Juice
In order to soften your legs and treat dry and cracked heels, soak your feet in undiluted lemon juice. Soak for 10-15 minutes. Do this as often as you can and make sure you do this at least once in a day. Due to natural antibacterial and antiviral properties found in lemon, it helps to kill the bacteria and also softens the heels. Repeat this method every day for 10 minutes and you will be amazed at the results.
2. Coconut Oil
Another incredible remedy for cracked and dry feet is using coconut oil. Coconut oil helps to kill the bacteria and germs and also helps to soften the skin. Due to antimicrobial and antifungal properties found in coconut oil, it can help to treat the problem soon. Soak your feet in warm water and add a few drops of coconut oil. Now soak for 10 minutes and scrub with the help of a loofah. Pat dry and moisturise well.
Due to moisturising and nourishing properties found in glycerine, it can prove to be a great remedy for dry and cracked skin. Take one spoon of glycerine and add some lemon juice to it. Mix both the ingredients together and apply some glycerine on your feet. Massage for some time and wear a pair of socks. Follow this remedy every day before going to bed for enjoying soft feet.
4. Use Pumice Stone
Pumice stone is popularly used to get rid of the dead skin cells from the face and hence it can prove to be beneficial in treating dry and cracked heels as well. Use a pumice stone to scrub your feet well, so that it minimises the hardening of the skin. Do this several times in a day to get rid of dry and cracked heels.
Using oats can help to get rid of the dry skin cells and also keep your skin moisturised. Take one spoon of oatmeal and add some jojoba oil to it. Mix both the ingredients together and scrub your feet with this. Leave it for 30 minutes and wash off later. Another remedy to use oats is to add some oats to your water and soak your feet in this. Follow up with a hydrating moisturiser or a foot cream.
6. Epsom Salt
Epsom salt soak is another effective remedy to treat dry feet. Take one bucket filled with lukewarm water. Now, add a few spoons of Epsom salt and soak your feet in this. Gently scrub with a pumice stone and leave for 10 minutes. Do this regularly for 10 minutes to enjoy baby-soft feet. Make sure you moisturise your feel well later, as Epsom salt may leave your skin over dried and dehydrated.
7. Apple Cider Vinegar
Using apple cider vinegar not only helps to treat cracked heels but also moisturises your skin well. Due to acetic acid present in the vinegar, it can help to exfoliate your skin naturally and help keep it soft. Mix half a cup of apple cider vinegar in a tub filled with lukewarm water. Now soak your feet in this water and wait for some time. Slough off the dead skin cells using a pumice stone and then moisturise with petroleum jelly.
Honey is a great moisturising agent and also due to antiviral and antibacterial properties found in honey, it can help to soften the feet. If you are prone to ultimate drying and cracking of the skin, you should apply some honey on the skin and massage for some time. Do this regularly for 10-15 minutes to enjoy soft and crack-free feet.
9. Over-ripe Banana
Using over-ripe banana is a great remedy that can help to moisturise your feet, thus preventing dry and cracked feet. It helps to soften your skin and also keeps it hydrated. Take some ripe banana and blend it to make a paste. Now add a few spoons of honey to it and massage for some time. Follow this remedy twice or thrice to get baby-soft feet.
