How To Shave Properly? Have A Look At These Tips!
A lot of girls are really scared of shaving because of the myths surrounding it. Not being afraid of shaving is a huge part of knowing how to shave properly. Today, I will be breaking down the myths for you and I'll be explaining to you on how to shave properly.
Shaving is probably the most convenient method of hair removal, and yet so many girls avoid it. They go for waxing sessions, which can get really painful and expensive. These sessions are obviously time-consuming! Why would anyone want to willingly have hot wax poured over themselves, right?
And, not to the mention, the time you have to wait for the hair to grow back to an optimal amount to be able to get waxed again. During this time, there can be no wearing skirts or shorts, till of course, you get waxed again.
Yesterday, I had a friend ask me if she should just shave. And I support shaving wholeheartedly.
Contrary to the popular belief, shaving does not make your body hair grow back faster or thicker. The hair can feel rough when it's growing back because it hasn't been pulled from the roots. That's only an illusion and the hair is not actually rough.
So, here are things you should remember when shaving and these tips to shave properly can really help avoid all the confusions you have regarding the whole process, have a look!
1. Hair Does Not Grow Back Thicker:
This is only an illusion, and it is fed by years of the myth being around. The thickness of the hair would remain the same. Knowing this fact is really important to know how to shave correctly.
2. Hair Does Not Grow Back Faster:
No, the hair would not grow back faster. You can shave once a week and that would be enough, if you have a normal growth.
3. Time:
You can shave whenever you feel like. There is not a determined hair length for shaving and you could shave at any time during the day.
4. Convenience:
For shaving, all you need is a normal shower gel and a women's razor. You need approximately 10-15 minutes and you'll be done. See, it's that simple! The best time to shave is when you're in the shower.
5. Scrub:
If you are extremely nervous about shaving, then you can exfoliate the area before shaving. This would help soften the skin and also prevent ingrown hair. This is a key trick to shaving properly.
6. Shaving Gel:
You can use a shower gel to shave. Make sure you use a gentle one. Or you can even use your conditioner as a shaving gel. This works really well if you have dry skin. Some people even like to use coconut oil as a shaving gel.
7. Dry Brush:
If you don't have time to scrub, you can use a dry brush. This does the same thing that exfoliation does.
8. Technique:
If you are shaving your arms and legs, shave opposite to the direction of hair growth for the smoothest finish. This is the correct method of shaving properly.
9. Bikini Area:
For the bikini area, extra care needs to be taken. Make sure you shave in the direction of hair growth for this area. Because the area is so sensitive, shaving in the direction opposite to the hair growth can irritate the skin. The hair growing back may cause itchiness and pain.
10. Underarms:
You can shave opposite to the direction of hair growth for your underarms, even though this area is sensitive. In fact I think shaving is the best method for underarm hair removal, as you can do it anytime and you don't have to wait between the sessions.
11. After-Care:
After you shave, make sure you moisturise well using a body butter or a mild moisturiser or an oil. This is one of the most important tips to remember if you are curious to know how to shave properly.
12. After-Care for Bikini Area:
Apply aloe vera gel on the area right after shaving to soothe the area and make sure there are no boils. After-care is extremely important even after knowing the correct techniques to shave right.
