DIY Perfect Manicure At Home!

The hands are the first things that people notice when they meet you. Okay, may be not the first, but one of the firsts.

Especially for people who gesticulate with their hands a lot while they talk. So, it is very important to have the hands looking all clean and presentable.

Our hands say a lot about our overall personality, in terms of hygiene, and paying attention to detail and looking presentable.

And believe it or not, hands tend to get really dry, what with being the most-washed body part. Naturally, the washing strips the skin of its moisture, like in other areas of the body.

It is surprising to see that a lot of people tend to neglect their hands. It may be due to lack of time because people believe that taking care of the hands requires us to go to the parlour for a fancy manicure.

And who has the time and money to do that on a regular basis, right? Yes, you got that right!

But, here we'll be sharing with you a perfect DIY manicure technique in the luxury and comfort of your home! So, keep reading to find out how!

You Will Need:

  • A nail polish remover
  • Cotton balls
  • A nail file
  • A nail buff
  • Sugar scrub
  • Cuticle balm
  • Cuticle stick
  • Nail polish (Base coat, colour, top coat)

Method To Follow:

We want to start with a clean canvas, so remove all traces of older nail polish and all oils present on the nails. Soak cotton balls in the nail polish remover and press them on the nails to remove the polish.

Soak your hands in a tub of warm water with a few drops of shampoo or shower gel. This would clean the hands and nails and also soften the cuticles. Let it soak for a few minutes, and then wipe with a clean, soft towel.

Focus On Cuticles:

Apply cuticle balm on your nails to soften the cuticles even further. You could even use an old lip balm, petroleum jelly or some olive oil for the purpose. Slowly push back the cuticles, using a cuticle stick.

Use the nail file and file your nails to get them in the neatest and best shape of your choice. You could go for either a round or a square shape. Square-shaped nails are very in at the moment and they look really neat.

Use a nail-buffing cube to buff the surface of the nail. This ensures that the nail surface is completely smooth and free of any ridges.

Once the desired smoothness is achieved on the nail, apply a transparent base coat. This ensures that the nail polish does not do any damage to the nails. It is basically like a primer for the nails.

Paint your nails with your favourite nail paint. We believe that shades of pink are always in. You could never go wrong with a pink shade. They are so feminine and bright. Finally, finish with a top coat of transparent nail paint to make the colour last longer.
